My first time launching from ice!

Temp was about low 30's and sunny with no wind. water was glass. So we loaded up headed for the ramp and we were surprised to see 4'' of ice! So we rode anyways. Two wetsuits, booties, neo gloves, jet pilot neo hooded jacket and helmet, I was set.I didnt fall in so I was sweating when I was done. But it was pretty gnarly. slabs would break off and turn them selves into floating fun boxes. Riding slow up the shore I would look back at my wake ripping though the 4'' thick ice shelf. It was a pretty good time. Not the smartest thing ever lol, but a blasty. Fun slowed when the sun started to set and the water started to cake up and freeze the kill switch and throttle. Just need to plumb in the pee'er into the bars lol.

Did the same thing once years ago on my first ride of the spring. When it was time to pull the ski out of the water, I just did a little bunny hop and slid across the top of the ice towards shore.

stall out and have to be in the water until you hook up for a tow rope would not be fun with a wet half frozen suit on...you do know that water that cold could......never mind :)

but major props for the ambition to ride !

We got there and I was pretty legit nervous. Watching deadliest catch made sure of the danger of cold water. But really you wear enough neoprene you can stay quite warm. I was sweating when I got done. But I did take my stock sj for reliable reasons for sure. and I never thought about the throttle sticking so unless i heat the bars thats prob my first and last time out when its this cold. The weather during the day here has been so nice. Its middle december and still we have no snow. usually there is a few inches if not a foot by now.

We rode a few years ago on an open spot of water in the Milwaukee river that was only about 1000 feet long and there were guys waterskipping there snowmobiles across as we were riding along side them. It was mid February and we felt like doin something dumb........... we were successful! And we just test rode our Gen. 2 Bobs yesterday in 36 degree water. At least air temp was in mid forties so no frozen throttle after barrel rolls and missed backflips.
