strap ons, loads, what the hell were we talking about? oh yeah skis falling out the the back of a pickup, even if they were wet you must be driving (like a jackass)without a thought of them back there for them to just fall out.

In Canada its a $110 fine just for not having the ski's strapped in. They or anything else falls out its upwards of $10,000 in fines and a million in liabilty if anyone gets hurt when they do.:drillsergeant:

Please do all of us motorcyclists a favor and strap your load down better. I came inches from probably getting killed due to someone losing a large deer stand on main high way around a nearly blind corner.

It would mess someones vehicle up, but most likely wouldn't kill them..on a bike its a whole nother story.

There is no excuse for this. And to post it with a thumbs up? You think it's cool? Do people like you have to kill someone before you learn your lesson? To actually do something like this is one thing, but to come on a public forum and talk about it with no regret is another. Don't be a retard and strap your stuff in.

I'm with you 100%.

One of the main reasons I hate pickup trucks so much is because of these dumb a$$ owners who never bother to strap down their loads.
Too good for that, right farm boy ?

I glad that you think that sending a couple projectiles down the highway is NOTHING.

Tell that to the family of a motorcycle rider and his girl who recently died when they ran over a matres that fell off the back of a pickup.
Yep, it wasn't strapped down but that's NOTHING.

And like I said, does he have to kill someone before he learns?

Maybe this time he got lucky with a couple scuffed up skis, but what about next time? Did he learn his lesson? Maybe on his skis, but what about that mattress? This post should have started like this:

And I'm still not sure how 2 skis could come out of the back of a truck on accident??? I can see how it would happen from neglect, but not by accident. I've had skis in the back of my truck and they are secured with no less than 4 RATCHET straps each (not those stupid cinch straps). It would take me rolling my truck (over and over) for them to come out, and even then, probably not.

Instead of Bashing why not ask how he had them strapped in and then offer suggestions instead of bashing.

Last time I checked I dont think anybody is perfect and mistakes happen.

Why, cause I might hurt his feelings? I don't give a $hit about his feelings. He's one man that could have killed many people. That's all there is to it.

He said nothing about the people he could have hurt and seemed happy about how lucky he was that they weren't broken.

Would you still feel the same way if he caused something major?

What if he came on here and said:

"My skis flew out of my truck on Saturday and cause a 4 car pile up with a family of 3 dead. I was arrested but I'm out on bail now. Luckily the skis weren't hurt."

Would you still pu$$yfoot around the issue and gently ask for details of how they were strapped in then offer suggestions?

When the original post was made and he showed no apparent respect for human life or remorse for what happened, I felt I didn't need to display any regard for his feelings.

Have you ever answered your cell phone while driving? Did you cause a wreck and kill anybody? You could have killed 10 people by answering that phone. Do you not think about anybody else while your driving? Have you ever reached over to grab something out of the passenger seat and took your eyes off the road? Have you ever tripped on something because you were looking the other way. I bet you have never knocked anything off a counter before.

If you want to worry and judge about the what if's in the world, then start bitching what if to the face you see in a mirror. then turn to the next person and cuss them out. Please, be the first person to pass judgement, but dont worry, you have never made a mistake, your just the most perfect person in the world according to you.

Have a good night.

You dont like dodging our deer stands? Stay the heck out of East Texas!! hahaha
Sounds like you were following a true redneck.

Strap your loads.

This is just out of control...

to the OP... How did this actually happen? What were the circumstances of the situation? And how can we best help you?

1) Do you think there might be damage to the ski you can't see with the naked untrained eye? (I bet there is any time a ski goes skidding down the highway there is bound to be structural damage you can't see!)

2) You need suggestions for how to better secure a ski in a truck bed?

3) Do you need the Location of a defensive or remedial driving class?

I don't have all the answers and I screw up all the time. I have seen more than a few skis... skiing down the highway sans the rider... (Not my fault so don't jump my a$$ please!)

I am sure someone around here has answers and will help you... Just let us know how we can best help you!

A piece of farming equipment fell off a truck in front of us on a cross country road trip, 1000 miles from home. Stupid POS Ford Explorer rolled twice swerving to avoid it. 6 month old baby in the car. Dog took off out of a broken window. Family flew home and I spent 9 days to get the dog back. Good times.

... speaking of rednecks... That sounds like a country song, it has all the main components... (tractor, truck, dog, etc)

Glad no one was injured badly... I have seen my share of those turning out badly.

Secure and Strap All your Loads People...

Of course a country song would require dating the dog :poke:. Stupid Exploders, I saw one roll over down the street from my house when I was a kid - on a 25 mph street!! Glad your family made it out of that one ok!
