I would have opted for pump gas as that makes killer power and gas is cheaper. VP fuel is $55 for 5 gallons. We will see what the compression is when it gets here.

I am a convert that believes that race gas makes more power than pump gas (and even to the seat-of-the-pants noticeable levels), especially with today's pump gas. Have you smelled that stuff lately, geez. You have to buy it in 15, 30, or 54 gallon drums and it is a little more cost-effective.

I'm a little surprised as to why you are going all out with race gas, but only running a stock ignition. Can you at least get something like an Advent or other aftermarket CDI for it?
 
i know in my s/s 800 i ran an aftermarket cdi.... i guess you could run this on a modded stock cdi.... i know pro-tec was modding the ignition curves in them on the 66E's

but then again what do i know.. i ride a couch.

These 1200 motors are sick and I have been proving it since March of this year. I gotta tell you that as sick as the first (gen 1) is the second gen is that much more! No problems with this motor at all even running 210psi. comp. Look for my new REV with a 1200 in it at the world finals.

race gas and compression makes more power for sure but I was looking at it from a operation cost stand point based on how much he rides. I think the ignition choice was based on saving an additional 1k. The motor should still be a beast.........if not I have a MSD TL for a 66e I may lend him.
