Rode some sick skis and want to bump mine up for some more power... do not care about top end...want some more bottom and middle grunt.

Currently:

FP Wet
Vilder Flywheel
Trinity hull (like a 2nd pipe!)
wetwolf Cone

Stock prop is starting to cavitate a bit once I got the hull, but still hooks up pretty good, I know if I bump up anymore power, I'll need a new Prop.

Where do I go next for a decent increase in power? Gonna do a full rebuild this winter anyway...so??

Group K bigbore?
Bigger Carbs?
Ignition? (does it do much on a kawi for low end?)
bump compression from 155 to 180?
Pink dual freestyle sponges?

Try calling Tim at Z Motorsports. He has done some special things on the Kawis. Tell him what you want and see what he says. Harry built a 800 for me that ripped, it was the hammer 96 and was extremely reliable.

I can give you the info on mine if you liked it or just give Art a call at Jetworks .It had 4 seasons on it when you rode it at Carolina Beach ,its been a very reliable setup.I just put a 145 mag in and it was a great improvement over the 140 mag .

Hey DJ, the SXR that wouldn't start at Wave Rave (loose starter) has a port job from Tim at zforce. It is setup for performance and superior reliability. Probably the route I will go eventually. $275 for the port work and very good results. I have heard nothing but good things about Tims work. Admittedly, it is only 1 of 2 ported sxrs that I have ever ridden.

Keeping the powerplant reliable is a priority for me. BTW, thanks for letting me rip on your ski for a bit. Very impressed with the hull/setup.

Haha I think we all do from riding some VERY good setups this past weekend. Didn't realize Dj's setup was pimp enough as I thought, just looks that way. I'd say bigger pump, a head for compression, and if still on a stock prop then one of those for sure!

+1 on Zforce porting, the FX1 I just finished had a B-pipe, total loss an ADA head 44 Blackjacks and Z force porting, it ripped off the bottom and never stopped pulling, damn thing sounded like a stroker idling.

The budget is about $600 on top of the rebuild.

I am thinking of getting the head milled for compression. (already have an R&D, not sure why an ADA would make any difference...compression is compression).
and then probably a prop. Although the Solas Swirls that come stock are pretty good, I think I am going to need a lil more hookup.

So, do I go with

1) a big bore kit? Anybody do one with a Wet Pipe? (already getting new pistions and crank, how much more to do up a cylinder?
2) a TL Flywheel? My Vilder aluminum is pretty damn light though, so not sure how much less a TL would weigh???
3) a port job? I heard the SXRs already have good porting and you can't do too much more to them on the low end and keep em reliable, but now I am hearing differently?

Once again, not looking for anymore top end. Just some more mid and low...

Call Tim and tell him what you want, he will talk to you for an hour while the dogs are barking. You will either like what he tells you or you won't, then call Harry or Kommander. They all should be able to steer you where you want to be

Art does do the Blackjack conversions on I body carbs also, might be worth checking into, I didn't know you had a head and flywheel already, yeah stick with that.

Call Harry down at group k. He ported my engine and I love it. They can also offer a freestyle porting that many people don't know about. I'd call him and explain what you are looking for.

How could just the right prop not change things? I remember bolting on my 13/16-3mm and thinking "WOW!"

A stock prop or even the "wrong" aftermarket prop can't give you what you want I wouldn't think. It has to slam out of your hands!

Hey DJ.......... There is this guy up your way that knows how to do some port work. I rode his SXR's at a Race in Macon GA back in 2004. Let me think of his name........................................................

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Jim? Was that it? Nahhhhh

Crap, it rhymes with Jim.

Was it Jim Barndorfer?

No, that not right.

Let me think........

I know........ Harry? no, that not right either..............

Oh, Tim Zarnsdorf AKA ZFORCE227 on PWCToday. He use to post alot about SXR Performance stuff. Yeah, that is the guy...............

When 3 or 4 people from different parts of the planet (Country) all mention the same guy.............. You get the hint. Good.

zforce227@aol.com

that the last email addy I had for him.

847-838-9305 if this number is still good.
