SXR Need More POWA!

You could use the tbm copper .005 base gasket which will drop the cylinders down adding a small compression increase and also change the intake and exhaust timing that adds more bottom end.

Whenever I want some extra power outta my sxr, I'm going with Jetworks Performance.

That's what I did...still not on the water though....soon!

Don't think Art is only Yamaha, he owns an SXR powered X2, he knows Kawasaki as well.

Here's my new setup: Blackjack Performance 84mm (820cc), ported cylinder, JSU (Kommander) head for pump gas, Jetworks programmed Advent T3, Blackjack 40mm I bodies (he refuses to Blackjack SXR carbs anymore, he swears by doing a thin tube atomizer instead), V-Force 3 reeds with spacer, RAD charging flywheel, and Power Factor pipe. Pump is stock with 650 reduction/steering nozzle and Solas 14/22 impeller (came on ski, planning on changing once I figure out what I might need, however I'd like a Solas 'mag', and love a larger Skat).

I have some taper bore 44 carbs I plan on swapping to, then probably eventually getting them Blackjacked.

So here is the plan....

Bump Compression from 155 to 175-180.
Z Force Porting.
New Prop from impros.
Replace trashed pump shoe with holes in it.
Full Rebuild. (got 4 seasons on this motor...probably pushing it)

How's that sound?

Zack at Powerhouse performance here in WI has a very nice package for the SXR's. One of the guys in our group had Zack work his majic on his engine over last winter and it rips really good. Just another option. The dude knows his chit...

I don't think any responded to the question on the TL flywheel. It's not going to be the slight weight reduction over you current setup that's going to give you gains, it's the fact your not robbing any more power to spin the magnets around to produce a charge... that's where "Most" of the gains come from.

Sounds like you're gonna have a rippin motor. Don't see any carb change listed?

Not yet. I'm on a budget. Maybe next season.

Interesting....so next season, it'll probably be carbs or TL. (I actually just got my charging system working after 2 years)...maybe I'll pull the magnets from my vilder.

Yo DJ when you do talk to whoever your going to about doing this motor work ask if it would be best to start with the BIG PIN cylinder you have or go with a
SMALL PIN cylinder, witch has a different port timing (for bottomend)

Kawi cranks suck. The bearings do not last. A blown crank bearing could take out a set of cases, cylinder, etc etc etc....I still haven't ridden a decent Kawi DASA cylinder that has been even anywhere near as fast as mine....not sure they have them perfected yet. (Only been on two, but not impressed).

...plus, this is out of the budget.

The Yami DASAs RIP! Erok's and Paul Lamb's 1000 and 1100 were sick.

No need for a Yami switch. Too much cash and work and not worth it. I would basically have the same power as I have now. Matt's 701 with close to the same parts as mine, hits exactly the same as mine. I am sure in a few years, when I am in the market, a reliable stock stroke Dasa cylinder will be ready and proven for the Kawis.....It might be now, I just haven't ridden one that has impressed me yet.

Going to stick with the original plan right now of compression, porting, prop, rebuild, maybe a lil carb work. That should help quite a bit. Once I get on a bigger kawi motor that is reliable and impresses me, I'll go with that in a year or two....or if that doesn't happen....I'll probably sell the whole ski and switch to a Matrix, Freak or KDX that is RTR.
