how much was the cdi and where did you guy from? was it stock or modified curve? is there any way to program these things with a laptop/hardware/software at home?
The CDI was from Watcon I believe. It was a stock curve. There was a few guys still out there that could and would recurve them from home ( but it required a PVL polaris diagnostic tool ), That being said, Watcon John can still do it for about 150 i think. You can get a Race curve or a Rec/Freeride Curve.
Thanks for the info- although I've got a thought.. I don't see how hard it would be to hook up Yamaha electrics with a programmable ATP epic in it- providing the stator pickup, charging wires and polarities are the same, wouldn't it be relatively easy??! Considering there's poop all good condition parts for this ski around now anyway..
It would be nice if it was that simple. The Octane has hall effect sensors to trigger the spark and the yamaha uses a trigger coil. The two are not interchangable.
I had two CDI failures on my '03 Octane. Both times the ski just quit dead, no spark. The polaris electronics are unreliable. That is a big part of the reason why I put a BB Yami motor in mine!
