Super Jet Need to change my hydroturf order...need advice.

Cory from hydro turf just called and told me they are out of the molded black diamond turf...A and B stock. My options are to either wait 2 weeks for them to get it in then another week to ship or I can choose between grey molded diamond or black cut diamond. I'm not sure grey would look right on my flat black ski with white race sticker and grips. Is the cut diamond durable and grippy?

I also ordered 25mm padding for my tom21 holds and tray. He's trying to up sell me to the 26mm padding which is double the price. He's telling me the 25 will compress and wont hold its thickness for long. I'd hate to turf and lose the tightness in my footholds after half a season. Do you think I should go with 26mm? I'm building on a budget.

Thanks guys.

Ive never had a problem with 25 underpad either and with the cut it wears out faster and is harder to install. What about waffle or grooved? But I think gray would look good on the ski too

I would hold out if you're set on black. Molded is much better than the waffle or cut groove from my experience. It seems thinner to me. I've never had any luck with anything other than molded. If you're in a huge hurry, go with the grey molded.

Thanks for the help guys. I cancelled the cut diamond turf order and am having hydro turf just send me the 25mm pad for now. Powersports superstore was out of stock too on the molded diamond so I'm gonna check out ebay and the rest of the net and hope I get lucky. Otherwise I'm waitin the two weeks for hydroturf to get it back in. I wanna get out on the water before May!

Thrust may have molded black turf and that's the best in the tray as it gets beat on . The black 26mm underlay is the only way to go for big flat jumps or violent foot kicking .

I just called hydroturf and they said they'll have bstock turf on the 24th, and can start shipping by the 29th of this month.

Ski clinics website says they have the black molded but not b stock. Didn't see any on thrust.. Can't find anything on ebay or amazon...looks like I'm waiting. I have a lot of work to do anyways. I need a nice day to finish my foothold and strap set up.

Corey hooked me up with some turf samples, but he told me it would cost 10-15$ to send me samples of the 25mm pad..
Anyways, I just asked him about the 25mm underpad and he told me that he wouldn't recommend it because it compresses and stays compressed over time and that the plush underpad is the only way to go.
Any thoughts on that? I really wish I had the samples so I could feel how much it squishes down when you stand on it, unless one of you guys could tell me.
Sorry if this is a thread jack!

No thread jack, in fact I asked the same question in the op:439:

Check out post 2 4 and 10. I had a tracking number right before berky posted he liked 26mm. I guess I'm gonna find out the hard way if the 25 is gonna lose its thickness.

Oops, I guess I didn't pay much attention to those posts haha. Yeah, Corey's definitely dissing the 25mm grey pad. I'd still like to know how much it compresses right when you stand on it though, because I've never felt it before. I'm a little hesitant on such thick pad.. I'm only on flatwater.

Before plush was around we use the other 25mm padding. It will work just fine for you, but over time it is not as resilient as the plush. So it will begin to compress a little. I couldn't tell you how much, but after a season of using it, back in like 2008 or so I remember the holds starting to feel loose so I added another layer of turf in the holds.

The advantage to using the 25mm over the 26mm plush is that you can very easily sand and shape the 25mm by hand.

If you fee like 26mm plush is too much...get the 18mm.

Given a preference I would go with plush, it does a great job of absorbing impact and you would be amazed how tough it is.

Roseand make a trip to lake michigan on a windy NE day. It's quite humbling and totally worth it.

I don't know what holds you are installing but the big holds like tom21's or 615's are designed for the 25/26 mm and I don't know that you can fit your feet in smaller holds with 25mm without sanding them down a lot.

I'll have to do that this summer!
I've got a set of toby/615s old style holds, so I'm going to have to sand down the pad a decent amount in certain places. Even though I'll have to sand a decent amount in parts of the holds, the 25mm pad in the whole tray will be nice to have anyways.
