New 2017 Kawasaki 4 stroke sx-r!

If you want the specs for flotation.

Someone does need to develop a small engine to meet Government standards. It won't be too long before they come knocking on the stand up communities door. It's amazing to me Yamaha has gotten away with what they have for so long. Now with the popularity of aftermarket hulls and the way the sport is becoming more popular the governments going to have a watchful eye on us!

Vortex what is ur point? You want something difficult to ride for everyone? Stick with ur 550. 1000cc crotch rockets are insanely easy to ride but try going fast on them. It's a different game.
Fwiw I felt the safest on my R1 80 mph and ^^. Go figure a cager almost killed me @ 40

I would like to know why Kawasaki was requesting that. Were they trying to do marketing research, get their own competition exemption, or get Yamaha into trouble? I hope it was anything but the last option.
This is my opinion only but if Kawasaki was truly behind the EPA audit request of Yamaha, you can guarantee it was the last option. Kawi doesn't need to meddle in Yamaha's production to research or secure their own exemptions. Given what's transpired recently with the IJSBA suddenly killing off the Octane and Hydrospace, Kawi is on the hunt to win by being the only player in the game.

I would bet Kawi did it because they were told (asked) to do so....
I know what you're trying to say here but think you have it reversed. Kawi is rumored to be the ones who nudged the EPA in verifying that Yamaha was keeping proper records on SJ buyers meeting comp license criteria. If Kawi could have succeeded in getting Yamaha in trouble and killied off the SJ then it would have opened up their market 100% assuming each company sells the same amount of standups every year.

The SXR is is no longer legal either for Stock or any non GP or Open class. "If ski has not been manufactured in previous 3 model years".

So racing is more about market share than racing. Not very respectable of the IJSBA unless someone has some better explanation.

Good catch. Forgot about that one myself. Thankfully it's still legal on the Pro Watercross circuit.

Thought this was interesting. The power to weight ratio is still similar to a sj on paper.

73hp sj at 321lbs (including 5 gal gas @30lbs) is a hp/weight of 0.22

160hp sxr at 580lbs hp/weight is 0.27

I'm sure the 63mph top speed is going to be awesome. Curious to see how quick it does 0-30, 30-45mph, and 0-60mph

Not sure why you have 580 there. Wet weight I believe is 550. Not positive but I thought I read that somewhere.

If you had read the post you would see I'm including 5 gallons of gas to the weight. Gas weighs about 6 lbs per gallon
Dry weight means fluid weight is excluded. Wet weight is fluids included. When I said I thought the SXRs listed weight is wet, that would mean fluids included. No need to add the 30lbs for fuel. :)

The weight has not been confirmed. So we really don't know if that's dry weight or curb weight.

Power to weight at 550lbs would be 0.29

A 90hp 760 in a sj 0.28. so it's still not that far off.

Yes I know it is unconfirmed. Simply stating that I heard the weight was 550 wet. I suppose curb weight is applicable here as it's almost as big as a car or truck.

If you want to debate the details, the SJ also does not hold 5 gallons of gas unless you're using an aftermarket tank. But the numbers were close enough I did not say anything.
