New racer questions

Just picked up a 13 SJ, that I want to get into running some buoys and racing on it (still have my DVX for freestyle).
So a couple questions: What mods are recommended for Stock class? It has intake grate and A/M steering, and a D cut plate (which probably needs replaced). I see some organization allow bpipe or 760 cylinder but I think isjba does not? I will probably do txh20 racing next season and they follow IJSBA rules.

Also as far as race numbers, I have found the size requirements but Im not positive on colors. Looks like Novice class is black background orange numbers, but that was in an older rule book.

Thank in advance

In pro watercross you run a wet pipe and all stock electronics and the 61x cyl with max 1mm overbore.

Ijsba you run a 62t or 64x cylinder with aftermarket ignition. Stock exhaust. They favor the hydro space with 12lbsboost/sxr 850cc in ijsba...

Put a pro watercraft racing plate and sponsons on it.

Race number color, not so sure if that really matters, depends on who is running tech.

You also need a back protector and I'd recommend a helmet with a face shield, Tray with under pad and fresh turf. Good riding shoes and gloves. Etc.

A fully built piped stock class sj is very hard to beat, they can run around 52-54mph and corner better than sxr and have way more power off the line. It's very competitive against a hydro.

For your sanctioning body you could just keep it simple and run the 760 cyl and head with an msd enhancer or advent. Might want to consider putting composite reed petals in the stock cages. I think you can also play with the cooling water routing. Add extra outlet at front cyl, dry out stock exhaust, etc. Check rules to confirm.

Race numbers just need to be easily visible. Pwcgraphics has some basic number plates available at good prices. Ipd is also a good choice.

So a little update, I have a pro watercraft ride plate on the way and their tray wedge. The local series here follows IJSBA rules, So thinking of doing just the enhancer, not sure I want to mess with cylinder swap on such a clean unmolested ski. I did a Blowsion HD spring, thinking about a RRP or Aura Pole.

I guess the plan is the Stock Lites class. http://www.ijsba.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/2016-Rules-Part-3-Ski.pdf

You should be able to tear up Novice class. Let your balls hang on the first lap. It's when everyone is the closest and lots of passes can be made. I was shocked at my first race how everyone seemed to just get in line taking the first few bouys. I used to bank on making several passes in the first couple of turns by just being aggressive.
I'm so out of shape now that I couldn't make it 3 laps.
REMEMBER TO BREATH!!! Stay focused and aggressive, but at the same time try to relax a little bit and not forget to breath........

I'd hold off on the handle pole, the stock one is just fine. It's not a kawi lol...but definitely get blowsion steering and 4 degree bars and grips. And the enhancer. Also highly recommend pro watercraft racing front sponsons.

A 1 mil overbore would be another option to get you a little more power without changing cyls. Many also dry out the stock exhaust.

Thanks for the replies. I grew up racing motocross. So I know how the Adrenaline rush goes. I have a bearing steering and zero degree bars (I can't do the 4' coming from freestyle skis).

Did u check with your local promoter? Most series offer stock spec (pipe or 760 cylinder). It's by far the most popular class and almost everyone except for Havasu runs it as the ski stock class. I know I've worked with a few guys in Texas and it was spec rules
