Well I got a RN Superjet the other day for a good deal. Supposedly its a 2001. When I bought it and signed over title I did not see that on the title it says its a 1991. Its obviously not a 1991 as its a RN and has a 701 62t motor.

But basically, its a 2001 superjet but the title says its a 91.

The CF number and VIN on boat match the 1991 title. Is this a big problem or not that bad? I guess as long as it has a way to get registered it should be alright?

Kind of sketchy, hope I didnt get a piece of crap.

I don't know why the responsible authorities would issue a 1991 title to a 2001 HIN. Wait a sec, what are the last two digits in the HIN?

Yeah it probably wont, most authorities dont know the difference between a 91 and 01, I wouldnt sweat it, but it is pretty :):):):)ty that the seller didnt tell you that, makes you wonder what else he didnt tell you. I would contact him and demand an explanation, but do not bring it to the states attention, they will get all worked up and excited about it and might even impound the damn thing.

It seems to be fairly common. People do it all the time with custom hulls. I dont own any at the moment with title swaps, but if I did, and knew it wasnt stolen, I wouldnt care one bit. You will be fine

It is fairly common...Heck my buddies SXR is title as a Superjet. Maybe contact the seller and raise a little hell. Say you paid for a 2001 but he sold you a 1991. Demand some money back if he doesn't comply, say you are taking it to the authorities. May get a couple bucks back from him. Reselling the ski down the road may be a little difficult if left unresolved.

Except you definitely should not ever take the ski to the authorities if you want to continue to possess it.

That is :):):):)ty... Question for someone on here though... I have been wanting to get a cheap SN hull and work on my fiberglassing skills and do some rocker to the nose, chop the back ect ect... a hull i have in mind was purchased with no title, he never bothered to get a title for it, would you pass even if it is cheap??? this there no way to the the Secretary of State it is a "custom hull" that needs a HIN and title???

just sell it here in colorado if you ever decide to get rid of it. we dont have titles to our skis. not sure why?????? Im fine with it though. it makes for less paperwork and hassle.

Check your state's titling laws. If you are just going to be cutting and practicing on it I wouldn't see why you wouldn't grab it. If the title is lost it's possible you can apply for a new one. You can do that in AZ, it takes about 3 months. I have done it twice.

you said it's on the opposing side of the exhaust(left)? ... by federal law, the HIN on all watercraft without a transom must be located "on the starboard, outboard side, aft, within 1(one) foot of the stern"... meaning within 1(one) foot of the rear right side of hull.... might not want to go too far as reporting this issue to authorities... but i WOULD swap that to the other side... if it isn't on the lawfully correct side, it's a dead give away if ever asked to see it by authorities.... this is not an "optional" location they choose to place the HIN tag just because, it's federal law that every watercraft HIN is located on the starboard side... i hope i said it enough times that everyone knows this information... so make sure your HIN is on the correct(right) side of the hull...

96 I thought they were below bond line on left side opposite of the exhaust outlet
