Flywheel bolt is regular thread, I use a clutch holding tool for dirt bikes and a 17mm box end wrench because it can be tight. You’ll need a puller to get the flywheel off

I would carefully check the wires from the electrical box to the stator first before either opening up the e-box or the flywheel cover. Then between the two, I would open the flywheel cover first. If you open the e-box, there are two "hidden" screws under the stainless steel triangular e-box brackets.

I love the Cold Fusion flywheel lock. JetManiac sells them.

I also love my ebay flywheel puller, but I had to make the three holes a little bigger in it to align perfectly. Remember not to thread the three puller bolts in too far or they will protrude through the flywheel and damage the stator.

The Nano air tool is overkill for this job. All you need is a 1/2" breaker bar and a 17mm socket.

(But I still love the Nano for other jobs!)

After I cut open the rubber sheath concealing the 5 wires from the e box to the stator - 4 out of 5 were buggered out . Spliced new wires in and engine turns over . Ordered a flywheel puller today . I am going to order new harness to install over winter . Is there a just a harness or is the harness part of the stator ? Either way, I am going to install a new stator while it is opened up . Thank you to everyone that posted advise !! Hopefully I will be using it tomorrow !!!!!!

Harness is part of the stator. There are three separate coils on the stator as you will see.

I agree with KMN, go with an OEM stator if you can buy one. The other alternative - which may be better - when you get the flywheel off is to take a photo of your stator before you remove it and email the photo to Jet Ski Solutions to see if they can rebuild it for you.

There are few vendors on the planet who are as quick, do work with uncompromising quality, and have the integrity which Corey and John have at Jet Ski Solutions:

They rebuilt our Super Jet's coil and spark plug wires and recommended the MSD Enhancer as a replacement CDI, and remotely diagnosed that my stator was not the problem. Simply outstanding. So, if and when our stator really does go out, I will have them rebuild it.

I will use Jet Ski Solutions when I have the stator overhauled this Winter . Ran ski today - ran flawless . Funny , this ski is a 650 whereas my other ski is a 701 and built up pretty good . The 650 ski has been down about two months . Got pretty used to the built up one because I have been running it a lot . Ran this one today and can we say - dog for power . LOL.
