I bought a 2004 SXR and decided to tear into it right away and change some stuff before I get out on the water. This is my first stand up (coming from an ultra 150 I've had since 2000) and am pretty excited about it.
First off I purchased some Blowsion bars and ODI grips. I took all the stock pieces off and put the new bars and grips on. Upon securing the stock controls, I noticed both the start/kill switch and the throttle lever have a detent in them that fits into a hole in the stock bars to keep them from rotating.
My question is, am I suppose to cut the "nub" off the stock controls and bolt them down tight and epoxy them? (pain in the ass if I have to take them off or decide to replace them at a future date) OR, do I drill the blowsion bars and silicone the hole when I attach the stock controls? Gonna be a pain in the ass to get the right angle on the bar to make sure they feel comfortable while riding...
Note: no, I do not wanna buy aftermarket controls right now...I just wanna get this thing out on the water, I've plenty of money into it already getting it back to shape from the previous owner.
