Nose Modification "rocker" Thread.... making a sj a better surf ski.....

Found a couple of pix from earlier this summer of a stunt hull in action (courtesy Yamacrazed/owner and Vince/test pilot). It seems it likes to plow when approaching higher speeds...as mentioned above.

It's not a bad thing, just a design that handles better going slower.

Not a bad thing.... what r u talking about, that looks terrible!

Thanks guys. Got it back together. Didnt have a good battery besides the one in my X2. Was in a rush to get to the water to meet up with friends. A friend brought an extra battery for me , I hooked it up and nothin. After I got home later there was a loose connection in the electrical box. Going to try and get back down to the water tommorow or this weekend.

here is my contribution! This is an update for my old 24-7 hood fresh from the painter.

08 hull with mild nose mod, wide tray and lowered rails

i sectioned 2 inches out of the front of the bottom deck and raised the bond line 1 3/4 inches.

Damn Butti, thats gonna be a FUN boat!!!

Here is what I'm working on . Starting a build thread nose is raised approx 14 " in this pic . I can do less but want to do something a little more extreme . My goal is to make a surf hull that would be almost imposable to perl . I'm waiting on it ( the Hull ) to talk to me for the final dimensions .

My home away from home.
Those are some very nice looking mods / builds guys. Seriously good work.

Here's a pic of my weak sauce nose mod lol! I'm a flatwater guy. I wanted more, but for now this will work. Ran out of time and needed to get it done for summer. Maybe next winter I will go more. I want some more front rocker when landing lawn dart ish to get the ski to come back up instead of subbing. But I haven't even rode this yet to test it. Time will tell...

Ride mine yesterday for the first time with the new rocker nose and the pole moved forward. It like a totally different ski. I am more then happy with the mods. I hit the bottom pretty hard on a nose stab and am cutting my nose up now. Kinda winging it, need a little bit more biax to get started laying glass since I gave too much of it away, or try to find it in town.

I just priced West Marine for some bi-ax.... it was like $50 a yard!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! in the same shape/size as it comes from US composites for a few bucks. WTF? The worst part is that was some kid that was pretty cool was working and I couldn't really harp on him for the prices. I like it when the older people are working and I can really twist the knife by telling them the hilarious things I would rather get ripped off on other than their high priced stuff. Such as "I would rather loose my wallet than buy that stuff!" lol ect ect.

I have enough AXE to do the rocker I think, but I guess I'll be doing a ton of layers with S glass and carbon fiber when I run out of Bi ax on the edges.

Anyone have any ideas on where/what type of stores to buy heavy cloth for a decent price and not have to wait 5 days to show up?
