Footholds will help you get the lift required, it feels wierd but you kind of have to go at it like a sub and get up and over the bars, and lock your steering.

Nosestabs are nothing to be afraid of. I'm a 14 year old kid, and I do them ALL the time. For a nosestab, you just do a 180, and in the process, lift up with your feet and push down on the nose (just like a sub), and it's sorta like a 180 sub. That's an easy, beginner way. The other one, (which pretty much IS a nosestab) is where you go for a barrel roll, but only go half way, with your nose pointed down, so it goes under.

Ok someone help me ....i tried a few times on my first ride of the seasson and first time with footholds...when i get a jump off a wave i find my self pulling and haveing the front of the ski come up !! ... do i need to get real air in order to do a stab? also i'm finding the footholds real hard to use...maybe i'll get better in a few times

Goose - very true - its my signature trick! Couple of me on this video at 2.03 onwards on Yellow/Orange/White ski at a recent show we did.

Messes up your sinus though after a while - the nose makes a perfect 'Top Loader' when you go in upside down! :bananalama:

Nice show Jim. What do you have in your ski mod wise? Aftermarket hull?

Rolls and other tricks were very clean. My rolls are a little more like the guy with the blue ski... here's my video with some riding... there is a bronco 180 (nose stab with no wake) at the beginning and then some good stabs in there as well... its the only video I have at this time... so sorry if some of you have already seen it, but it applied to this thread I guess... also a little fuzzy since it was recorded with a helmet cam...

Some of my rolls where almost there... I think I made one all the way around plate to plate at the end... it was pretty close anyways...

Cheers, there's 2 x skis with very similar paint jobs in the show - mines the one with the RRP pole doing the inverted stabs and surface stuff from 2.03 onwards - I've not learned to roll yet, guess I just need to sack up and go for it! - could I turn the inverted stab into a role? - the 1st one looks like it could?

My ski has the following:

Stock Hull
24/7 SR71 Hood
RRP Pole
Wamiltons Trim

847cc 6mm Lamey Flat Top Stroker (NPV)
48mm Full Specs
ATP Total Loss Ignition
B Pipe
+ all the usual stuff

The guy doing the rolls is Dan Ashcroft (www.danashcroft.com) riding a Lenzi hull with an 8mm & Gary Gregg (www.pierats.co.uk) - these boys are way more capable than me!

Cheers,

Jim

Right after you turn ur crank your bars and are wide open LIFT W/ YOUR LEGS this was holding me back this will allow you to do a nose stab and not a tail throw or whatever.

Yep. Surf stabs are soooo easy. The biggest part is getting past that little fear thing and just fully committing. Once you do one, even if you pancake it on the side, you will feel 110% better. The one after that you will nail... just remember... FULLY COMMIT!!!

I will definatley need some footholds once I start nose stabbing and stuff like that!
They are on there way!

But I have a question, should I reinforce before I start experimenting with tricks like this? Or just wait till it cracks? :icon16:

PS: I am riding a 2002 Superjet...

I tried stabs this weekend also should I be wearing a helmet? Should my shoulders being doing that much work cause their sore as hell this morning. Does this mean I'm trying too hard with my upper body? Do I need to pivot more with my lower body? I keep trying I seem to be getting a little closer.

Don't worry about reinforcing yet. It's overrated and for flatwater it's a pretty low priorty until you consistantly start trying rolls.

yeah but if you ride surf id reccomend it.

i only rode the ocean maybe 5 times before i put my ski away for the winter last year... i had a small crack forming in the side i stab towards from only making it halfway when learning and pancaking a couple of em.

i reinforced as soon as i noticed the crack start to form. now i feel like me ski is pretty indestructible... ive ditched it from pretty high up a few times this year and nothing bad has happened.
