Since I ride in oklahoma and we have no waves except from wake board boats . I'm going to have a buddy set me some wakes any suggestions on hitting them for stabs or should i just stay with trying it off my own wake? He can phat sack his boat and set me some 5ft rollers or is this too grande.

Do it twice?That's DooDoo
you can do a "stab" without any wake... bronco 180.

make sure you have a good hoodseal, and great drainage.... I did a stab on another guys ski and punched it when I went under (gotta love the spray!).... then I brought it back into shore (forgetting he didnt have a scupper).... popped the hood and the engine was 1/2 under water.... that was just from one stab... I definately recommend a scupper!!!! or oneway for QUICK drainage

My ski has dual 1000 gph pumps and hood straps . Im just wondering is it better to have more air or is there more room for error? Last weekend I worked on stabs for a few hours but the tops of my feet started to hurt . I raw dog it no shoes this week Im wearing shoes though. Also should I be using more of my upper body to pivot with or lean over the bars and bring my lower body around?

:friday: I just landed my first flat water stabs today!!! im pretty excited considering i never really tried them regularly until recently. The most helpful thing imo is treating it like a sub and committing while lifting your feet

Cheers

Start leaning forward on your start get in the habbit of moving ur body, becuase when it comes b-roll time you have to slam the pole down lean on and to the left of the pole. Also when doing hockey slides pratice leaning to counter your ski out of a stall... well if you dont have side exhuast.

turn your head in the direction you want to go...you will be suprised !!

You do not need much speed, you dont need set up wak for inital practise you can start with a pre-hopp opposite direction.

After pre Hopp >Turn head 180 down & back direction you wish to go> body will follow> ski will follow> kick the back out with your feet...

As in any sport body rotation starts with the head...

so a bronco 180 is a nose stab with out the surf element.... the beginning to the barrel roll.....

If the b roll and stab are executed with the same set up and body position etc then
I am a little confused... as the angle and pivot axis of the ski in a brono/stab is different to that of a b roll... (b roll the ski spins flat, stab it spins through the middle)

Can someone please explain what the difference is between doing a stab/bronco and a barrel in 'how to do' terms

When I go for a stab I look back to spot my landing. Look down at the water. For rolls look straight at the nose. If you look down on a roll attempt you end up doing weird nose stabs.

I dont know what the hell he is saying but the slow motion helps.

After My first attempt at a nose I thought yeah no problem, after my 100th attempt I thought well I am getting close, After about 1,000 attempts I thought these are starting to look good, After another 1,000 attempts or so I can stickem nicely. It is really cool the first time you get upside down.

Hit the gas. Crank the bars.

Here is a nice close up of me doing a few stabs. A video can explain it better than I can.
