SO here is the story. I got 15 gal. of VP race fuel off my buddy in PA (goose) for the wavedaze. Thank you very much Bill ! I had enough c-12 that i brought so i did not dip into the 15 gallons that bill sent down with Chris ! (Yamacrazed). So it sat in my pickup truck bed for 2 days while I was down in VA...

So yesterday I go to use the fuel... pop it open and it smells funny.. Not like C-12 or c-14... You race gas fans know what i am sayin... so I put some in a glass to see the color... It looks/smells/is regular.... WTF ! So at this point I am like HOLY :aargh4: !!!!

Ok... Next time... any theif out there.. Steal the whole ing thing.
Dont take the gas and put in regular so I mess my stuff up !
Just take it.. really how sick is that !

I am sure it was not Anyone here on the boards.. I hope...

15 gallon Drum.. about 2.5-3' tall and like 1' dia.
heavy as hell... you would have to take that and empty to 2-3 cans. then fill up with regular... thats nuts...
why not just take the whole thing...

When I go to freerides now, I have to lock everything.... :shrug:

did you check it when you first got it. sounds like a hell of a hassle to empty a 15gl drum into a couple of jerry cans.

Because I am a Moron, I put the 15 gallons in my Dirt bike....
My wifes truck and my truck.. because I did not want to waste it.
My truck ok.. Bike ran funny yesterday, and wifes brand new 4runner
is in the shop as we speak, with all sorts of lights on.....
truck under warranty... OOPS...
I just thankful i did not put in ski !!!!!!!

I can tell you guys this. Goose droped off the 15gal can at my house thursday night. Goose dumped some in a cup. I run AV gas, and I wanted to see the difference, and smell it. I loaded it up, and my family and I left for VB an hour later. It was in the parking garage Thursday night, and then to flatwater Fri. I gave it to Pete at flatwater Fri. I too think it's a little strange that someone would go through all the work to do replace it with pump, but I know that what I brought down did not smell or look like pump gas.

Pete, I am gonna have to agree w/ Darin... No one would take the time to do that, they would just steal it outright... Just think about how much a pain it would be to do that and so on... It would have to be a few people and no one hates you that much or at all that I know...

I agree with this too. I mean, someone would have to REALLY have it out for you to take that sort of time. Then, to chance someone catching them with so many riders walking around all weekend, it'd take some huge balls. Where was the can? We have a trailer that we lock gas cans in for the weekend, but no one took advantage of it & we had certified security on the beach Saturday night.

Pete, do you have ANY of that gas left? I would love to know EXACTLY what the hell was in there. Was the container labeled as race gas?

I am guessing that it is someone who doesn't know Pete and was looking for/ needed race gas? ...A newb of some sort who didn't want to get caught or have anyone know it was stolen. (therefore all the trouble of trying to cover it up)
