BlackJacks!!!

If you are neighbors with Tim Judge-gets Novi's
If you are neighbors with Tricky1-get Full Specs
If you don't want to know how to tune carbs-get BlackJacks!!!

Chris-on a serious note-is this a engine that Art built for you? If so-why would you not do what he tells you to do? 2nd off-you can buy 2 BRAND new BlackJacks for the price of one new Novi or Full Spec.-seems like a easy decision to me.

Not dissing you-just wondering.

Any big carb should do the job for your motor. Get whatever you can get a deal on. Me personally, if I had to choose between the two listed I would go with full specs. Never owned either of them but I seen a full spec sticker on a world champion ski before so they must work okay.

This is something I am in the EXACT same situation as you, and I am going with Dual NOVI 48's. Reason being Thrust Innovations has them in stock at a good deal and can jet them for you and they feel that the NOVI's dont go out of tune over time as easily as the Full Specs do. Full Specs are a bit more finicky in the longevity department. so call Brian and Chris at Thrust and then you don't have to worry about a thing

The onces you get cheapest. I just bought a set of brand new 49mm Full Specs, that i swichted from a dual 48mm Riva power bomb setup. Both carbs are with bomb sight. Nobody have been able to tell me what the main diffrence i these carbs are.
So i took some pictures when i were to do som re jetting.
I will say 9 out 10 guys, wouldnt tell the diffrence from the Riva's to the Full Specs (in same engine, with same jetting)
I cant compare with BJ, as i havent run a set of thoese buuut im pretty sure they are "the same" as other annular discharge carbs, ATP, Green racing or what they were named.

My guess would be that it's hard to tell a difference between different sets of well-tuned carbs on an otherwise well set up driveline.
Main differences would perhaps be various amounts of loading up at idle, crispness of throttle response, linearity.

a pair of well tuned full specs is the shizzle!! If you ever get a chance to check out the small details of the FS ,you will see the real difference and why they cost more!

I've ran a single 47 FS against a single 46 SBN and also a Riva PB a few years ago and couldn't tell much difference once everything was tuned. I had two of the FS's and ran them as a pair, as well. Definitely better than the dual 44's they replaced.

Waterfreak, sorry if i may sound ignorant, but what small details of FS??
I took some pictures side by side, when i opened the carbs. no really diffrence.
Matt, just my point. But i find it really hard to feel "any" noticable diffrence in these "some years old" Riva vs brand spanking new 49 Full specs. And in now way any diffrence that would justify the price diffrence.

Please tell me were the FS have the "small nice details" ? :)

Only diffrence i can spot, is the bomb sight being slighty diffrent size, and i think RIVA has 6 holes and FS 6 or 8 holes in bomb sight

If you look carefully at the bomb site, you can see how Ed ports them to maximize air flow. Also, Ed will smooth out the throttle shafts for the same reason. Their is also some differences in the throat of the carb . At the end of the assembly, all the FS are flow bench tested for optimum performance.
and let's not forget that they are 49's ...not 48mm
