For me, it's a 2004 modded to the gills RN SJ, a semi modded out SN, and a B1.

I'd love an AM hull, but in all honesty, my RN is a better ski than I am a rider, so I don't really deserve an AM hull yet.

wow, Crazy how the sport has changed in last 4 years. I remember daytona 2010 showing up and going HOLLY FREAKN RICKTERS BATMAN, 2012 was UNFREAKINBELIEVABLE FREAKVILLE and last year saying "its raining KDX's" at the Flatwater Friday. In 2008 I had one of the FEW aftermarket hulls there A REV. So it has CHANGED AN INCREDIBLE amount since then.

I own 2 RN Super Jets and 2 SXR's. The reason I am able to own 4 skis is because I don't have an Aftermarket hull.

Aftermarket hulls are for flat water and micro surf or having the absolute edge in surf riding competitions. For recreational surf riding, at least here on the West coast were we regularly get decent sized waves, there really is no advantage in having an Aftermarket hull, and in many ways they are a disadvantage. Justifying spending 10K plus on an aftermarket hull really depends on where and what you mainly ride.

Would love to go AM someday - but I think I will just get a bigger motor in my SJ 1st. If I have an AM hull - I want an insane motor to put in it first

I think if I lived on the surf I would have an AM hull sooner.

Dont you want the increased strength/width of an AM hull?

Shortening my 1990 tubbied Squarenose (a few years ago) was a great surf mod. I took 3.5 inches off the back and run an extended rideplate.
I just bought a used 02 Matrix and did not like the ride until I put some tubbies on it that a friend made. got 2 rides on it with the tubbies so far. They made it ride & turn so much better, but still not sure if I like it as much as the old plowhorse SN hull, might be switching back. :tapedshut:

Pretty wild that over half of the people who voted are on aftermarket hulls, big difference from even a few years ago.

sell 3 of your 4 boats and buy an AM hull and some mods to replace your RN hull then sell the RN hull LOL less to wrench on and WAY more fun since you can only ride ONE at a time anyfreaknway

in surf you need one later than sooner IMO, weight is non issue in surf, However, hook up is an issue. A mag pumped SJ will always be fun in the surf but the Freak will always be more fun LOL.
