Other Of all these new light hulls....

Wasnt the Gen 2 bob pretty similar to the Gen 1 except instead of having the Gen 1 hood look, and fit exactly like a 300sx hood, they made it into a "lid"?

no not even close, the entire bob gen 1 was pretty much scrapped, it didnt work. if you seen the two you would know, it wasnt hard to see. xfs was same as fs1 except different hood too....lol

I cant really even tell the difference between any rickter by just looking at them lol.

Can't you put a kawi motor in any Yamaha based hull with the rad dudes conversion plate. I know that they market it for 1100 kawis into blasters mostly but technically an 800 sxr motor would mount up. Would just have to find the right midshaft length.

Anything can be done with some fab work.

But why?? The only Kawi motor that has ever impressed me has been black chris's DASA kawi based motor.... and I don't even know if you can give the credit to kawi on that one.

Ill back that up. Matt you need to ride these skis, they are all based off something. Hell the Brawler is superjet bottom based but with a Kawi intake bubble and is wider than an SXR so who would know how that would ride without trying it? The EMEs are all based off the orig SXR style bottom but they all ride different. tiny changes, especially in the pump intake, etc can affect the ride quite a bit. Ref the write up by Zack on the new Predator intake I think you are looking for a hull that hooks up in the turns, not necessarily a flickable hull, agreed?

I highly doubt anyone created their first mold by a large block of foam and then hand shaped both the bottom and top decks. There are all based off of something. It just makes more sense since we are running yamaha motor, electronics, pump etc. to work off a existing ski. Half the battle is done that way and for the sake of convenience, in theory, everything should line up like OEM.

I think the standard practice is to modify a OEM hull by adding rocker, shortening, lowering the hood etc. and then test it. If it rides good .. Great now split the decks and splash a mold of it. For a small business owner/sole person to build and R&D a ski from ground up would take a insanely long time and alot of money. From a OEM hull they all evolve. In fact, just about every hull builder i've seen has evolved from something.

The ROK is a SXR bottom for sure. They do take Yamaha drivetrain, but I think only Kawasaki pump.

Yea WDK will take either...both Rok and Envy...

I am basically looking for my envy...40lbs lighter (my hull and hood weigh 104lbs)...for a second hull...

I can lay my envy over until my hips are dragging across the water.....literally.....and the pump stays connected. The damn thing amazes me every time I get on it.....but really only shines on 4' and up waves as far as rolls. (It doesn't help that I am lazy as far as roll form so I rely heavily on decent sized waves combined with speed so that I can just stand up and roll! LOL) So I want the same handling with less weight.

I'll keep researching. I wish it was warm so I could go visit the NY crew real quick!

I know I can get used to anything and I loved my stock SJ hulls so it is not a deal breaker...but SXR bottoms really make me smile.

Who does not offer OE looking gelcoat? That will help rule out some too as I want it to look exactly like my current ski...all white gel coat with WWII bomber stickers on the hood.

I want a mini me.

All of the fiberglass hulls are available in gelcoat. Once you go carbon, most dont offer gel

I'm sure what you want is out there, or at least there is something out there that you will enjoy.
But in my experience the lighter the hull the more it wants to skate on the water instead of digging in. The weight of your ski may very well give it the handling that you enjoy.

My chan has a SXR based bottom deck, but because of how short it is, it doesn't lay over like a SXR, (probably because its light as well.)

But I don't think you're looking for something that light or short.

Voges, for the kind of riding you are doing and what you are looking for, I would go for a ROK or a Brawler. I've ridden about 25 hulls at this point. The rock is way lighter, way smaller and way snappier than our hulls, but can still carve if you want it to. The brawler is even smaller and lighter, but gets a little difficult to carve (more of a freestyler), however, I haven't ridden it with the longer plate. Nothing else is going to do the kind of slashing you want, at the speeds you like to go, that I've ridden, except maybe a Rickter or a Matrix.

It is getting real real hard to not get a brawler! If I was buying based solely on the builders coolness (Josh and Brian) I would have already called them! It looks like that is what I want but I am gonna keep researching.
