Other On average what do we spend a year on this industry?

Cheapest guy in the world here.

Countless hours of fun so far for pretty much the cost of gas and oil. And the cost of the skis.

I have stock skis tho. Very soon I wi be buying a am hull tho. But then I will still be keeping it mostly stock.

That's the smartest thing to do.I shouldve did that last year instead of spending big money on grenade motors.

Well my BOB G3 setup (hull now sold, Backie chan is ordered) I've spent somewhere around 230000usd, and have 29hours of riding on engine setup and 15 on the BOB hull, over the past 2 years :/ a short figure of fuel would be 600liters to that 30 hours and with oil that adds up to around 1800usd (V power 99oct is 2.4 usd pr liter :/)
So thats in rough numbers 25000usd and 833usd pr hour of riding :)
Still as truerider said - i regret nothing :)

In the last few years with hull upgrades and and finally building a perfect ski I'm in it for about $30 grand give or take. Not to mention fuel at 8.29 a gallon and oil at 45 a gallon. Not a cheap sport but there is nothing better! Only regret is that I wish I would have spent more money sooner and not try to take the cheap route at first.

This has been been my cheapest year for actual ski expenses so far........gas, oil, and a couple spark plugs!

Then add in the costs of attending freerides, my new 4x4 van, etc....and the picture changes :)

What hull are you building up now?

I have spent around $3000+ this year on my ski's. I burn about 10 gallons ($40)/Mrs. burns 5 gallons per day and ride sat and sun most every weekend plus fuel for the truck, oil, food, etc.... it gets pretty spendy, but who cares, you only live once.

My buddy down the street has spent over 34K this last winter/year, but just bought a rickter etc etc plus hoping up his boys sj and a new tow rig.

About $4K this year on gas and oil between the 2 SJs and the B1. $200 or so more on odds and ends. Cheapest year in the last 10 by a loooong shot, since I had no repairs and no builds.

$375 per hr of ride time. (but I haven't rode that much this year). That number drops every hour you ride and dont break chit

this thread made me go to Excel and add stuff up:
2007 I bought a SN for $1200, I now have about $7k into it
including oil and gas and trailer purchase and maintenance
(no tow vehicle or wavedaze expenses)
In 7 seasons I am at $38 a ride/hour

but my mechanic is a lazy drunk who works for free (that's ME!)

The craziest deal is my waverunner 500
paid $700, sold single trailer out from under it for $300
threw some scrap turf and an old air cleaner on it
and it has run 8 seasons with only gas only and 2 sets of plugs
that is capital cost of $4 per ride + fuel. LOL!!!
Logged over 200 hours on it and it just keeps going!
I don't ride it but it is good for kids friends, my daughter, etc

I dont keep track of total costs with a spreadsheet. I have a lot of debt and a lot of fun riding my jetski! Who cares about money? You can replace money but you can't replace youth or memories.

im with OCD though, I spent a lot building my Superfreak but now I just maintain it and that's way more cheap and easy than trying new skis and new mods all the time. Buy what you REALLY want and do it once. These things retain their value pretty darn well. Keep your parts and swap hulls if you're not happy later on.

As long as you aren't trying to do flatwater flips, I am proof that you can do a lot, and have a load of fun, on a boat with mainly used parts bought here on the X. It is really is all about the hull and a capable motor. I roll and flip in small surf and on boat wake for well under 10k.
