This thread makes me feel a lot better about myself. I haven't really added it up but every year is easily $1000 in fuel, $1000 attending freerides, $1000 in repairs, and then I have 3 running standups and 2 builds that range from $700 to $5000 if you want to include purchase costs. I won't include the 2 XP's that I keep for friends to ride or the fuel I pay for in my girl's ski to keep her from finding out how much I/we spend.

It comes to about $6000 a year or anywhere from $20-$50/hour. It depends whether you count actual riding time or BS on the beach.

LMAO!

Yes, i'm jealous... and a little bitter. But at least he lets me ride the little Rickter.

This year... i'm probably in at around $7k because of my Chan and associated build parts.

But next year should be light assuming I don't break anything. Knock on wood, my JM Big Bore is solid as a rock, so until I plunk down stupid money for more power, I should be in a holding pattern.

That being said, my 59' Biscayne is about to get more money than my Chan has seen... FWIW, i'm getting a 5.3 Liter LS motor complete with trans for about a grand. Thats 320hp, fuel injection, I can run it for years and years without a rebuild. I could have had 4 of those for what I have in my 2 cyl, 2 stroke long block.

I bought my hull and engine for 350, then misc crap for $300...... then a new b pipe for 750. doesn't make much "cents" here.... gas station is at the least 70 bucks each time we go to the lake.

The craziest deal is my waverunner 500
paid $700, sold single trailer out from under it for $300
threw some scrap turf and an old air cleaner on it
and it has run 8 seasons with only gas only and 2 sets of plugs
that is capital cost of $4 per ride + fuel. LOL!!!
Logged over 200 hours on it and it just keeps going!
I don't ride it but it is good for kids friends, my daughter, etc
had one i got for $250, but upgraded to the LX 650 that does 40. same deal with it, bought for 250, no problems. makes an epic sleeper with a 13/18 prop.

between both my SN superjet and my WR650LX, ive got less then 2K into this sport. add my trailer and oil, im under $2500 for the year. I guess i never understood the "boats are expensive" bit lol.
