opinion on factory type 4

and i'll toot my horn one more time just for madmatt. Haha.

this from factory's website
701 SuperJet - Type 9

The Type 9 SuperJet exhaust combines the snappy low-end throttle response of the original Factory Pipe dry exhaust system along with screaming top end. The Type 9 uses the same manifold and most of the same mounting hardware as our original Dry pipe. The system is designed for limited and superstock applications, but we have also found it to work well for recreational style boats with increased compression.

Hell I don't know. I give up. I am just happy to finally be happy with a ski! My B piped non ported 180psi 13/16-3 light weight hull rips! And this same motor with 2 different dry pipes ripped too....but at higher R's.

i'm going to asume that the ORIGINAL DRY PIPE they mention is the type 4. since you only have a stock motor with 180psi this pipe was not meant for you so PPPPPPPPPP!!! :nana:

I hate my type 4. If i could afford a b pipe i would buy one and ill definitly buy one to add to my new boat.

Its to big, you have to remove the ebox to do anything with it, its ugly, mine has issues and doesnt work right, it broke the last cylinder i had on my ski.

honestly i just hate this pipe and thats how i feel :banghead:

:

Yea and some other company typed some words on their site about making the absolute best chinpad in the industry and that clearly ain't the truth.

I know for a arm testing fact that of the 3 pipes we are speaking of the B makes more and better off idle throttle response.:poke:

I feel your pain.....I want to melt one with a blow torch and then flatten it with a Jeep and then make a can out of it and pee in to it.

LOL...I'm sorry man but I had sooo many problems with the type 4 over 3 seasons that I have developed a deep passionate hatred of them that I cannot contain. I have earned the right to rip on this pipe.

To each his (or her) own. This is why there is more than one type of pipe made and sold. I can clearly see the arguments for each side. When I got my first SJ it had a type 4. I appreciated the hit but just was not willing to deal with the frequently blown coupler issues. So, I sold the type 4 went for the Holy Grail-that's right, a brand spankin new B pipe. All was well until I came to the realization that the B just didn't produce near as much power. Long story short- I traded the B for a type 4 and learned how to proper align it. It's not rocket science. A little time and effort spent aligning the type 4 will be well worth the effort. Some people hate type 4 pipes;believe me, I understand.

I run a type 4...I LOVE it...it hits like a mo fo..and pulls hard everywhere...My brother has EXACT same mods as me but with a b-pipe. Im sorry guys but mine pulls harder everywhere compared to the b-pipe..granted it sometimes it acts like a light switch, on/off, but my grandma also doesn't ride my ski....

Align it right and you won't have problems...I freestyle my ski. It get smacked around all the time and I have never had a problem...

I dont care for Type 4's. Reason, maintenance and reliability. That being said, The B does make more off idle response. It comes on much quicker. But, the Type 4 makes incredible lower midrange power. You do not need the water-injection. You can do the same tricks with a 4 as a B. You just have to start rolling the throttle one a little sooner to get the power to hit when you need it.

My hat's off to ya bigguy- for flat water rolling a ski that's only hitting on one. :Banane13:

I'm liking my dry-pipe. Just recently switched the stock head with a Coolhead and didn't have any problems with access, until I got to the last girdle bolt, then I had to pull the pipe. Only 3 hose clamps and it pulled right out, pretty easy in my book. Mine must be set up right, cause it hauls a$$, bottom, mid, and top. Lots of good talk about that b-pipe though so I'm not about to say the type 4 is any better. I would like to ride one for comparison.
