Surfriding opinions on changin wavedaze to early may next yr?

There has been some talk about turning wavedaze into a season opener in last week of april or may vs a closer in oct,alot of the sponsors cant make it with us being right on top of the world finals date,Would you guys prefer a date like 1st weekend in May,Give everyone close to 5 months after tona to save up and get pumped to open the season right?It would be after Mothers day and spring break and nothing else seems to be happening around that time

last weekend of april allows anyone who wants to ride more days in front of or in back of the ride to be able to do so before the law changes in may on launching and landing from the beach without a permit,so this date would be the best for guys who wana make more out of it than a weekend.

Then it is 6 months opposite of Daytona. One cold ride and one warm ride.

water will be fine in may. i say change it. Then I will go hahaha. Haven't been to one in october yet. Never seem to be free on that weekend.

June is dog days of summer usually poor surf,plus the beaches are packed,Water temps would be cool in may,but fine for a full suit,air temps are pretty solid in the 80s around that time.hotels are still cheap.

i like it this time of year. much better chance at getting nice waves and we look better after having a full season to practice.

Probably can't be done. VA Beach still has an active tourist season in September, last October's "everybody off the water at 5 PM" was aggravating enough.

yea sept is a pain with the city,and really wouldnt help us get far enough away from world finals to bring in more sponsors who can attend as well as more riders.Id think northerners would like it more in may cause just like tona they would be itching to ride and get the season going,and its WAY warmer here in may than up north.The surf is historically just as good in May as Sept normally.

Also if its in early may its before the law changes on 100yrds from shore deal,so there will be no out of the water at 5 rule. Most junkies have no clue on all day rides,they go out and blow there load in no time and either break the ski or so sore their done. its the nature of the ride laws we usually have here.watch for them all in tona,they will be sittin on the beach in street pants in a few hours,lol.... this is really more important for out of towners traveling in,SOOO in may we can ride as long as we want in the evening. as well as days before the event and days after the event for people who want to come and stay longer to make it more worth while.Its legal to launch and land from shore and ride as close to shore as you want till may15th. thats another reason May is looking so good to us right now.

may sounds good to us, we love the wavejunkies and the only reason we are not going this year is that we are going to world finals, have been to wavedaze to years in a row and its a blast, i recommend this ride to anyone , how about a poll

ntrs..thats great news to hear someone from the jersey crew wantin to throw a freeride again,We use to go to the jersey rager pete and paul put on back in the day,it was great,he could give you some good pointers setting it up there. I would think you all would do much better in the north doing it in sept if you can pull that off with your permit.May is better further south,We could do both but it would make sense to have them in jan,may and sept to be spread out for better turn out.I dont think in your first few yrs world finals would make a diff to your turnout of sponsors or riders that far north.Is this something your wanting to do for a few years in a row? Its alot of work and really is alot more easy to do if you have 3 or 4 guys to spread the tasks out to make it happen year in year out.this is our 4th yr for wavedaze,a few of our guys can give you some good tips as well if your serious about it.

Yea I have a bunch of guys helping out, the planning is actually really coming together. May is really the only time our city will kinda allow our type to in their words ruin the beach lol.
