Super Jet Painting Motor

I am getting ready to put my motor back together from art and wanted to give it a new clean look. What kind of paint are you guys using to paint cylinders and cases? Also what can i do to clean up stock sj tank?

Most people use high temp engine enamel on engine parts and it works well. Just make sure you clean off all grease and oil and then scuff sand anything you want to paint. Not much you can do with the gas tanks. I looked into gas tanks a while back and there wasn't any easy things you can do. I believe some guys on a motorcycle forum had luck dyeing their tanks but you can't paint it.

you can use urethane automotive paint. painted several engines on some of the bikes i've built and it works great. im painting mine with HOK base clear.

brake cleaner on the tank is about the best I have used.

thanks guys. Has anyone ever tried bleach in the tank and putting it in the sun?

the RN i just bought had a piss yellow tank it, someboddy said greater yamaha and had them 135$ brand new, looks amazing, if this one goes yellow i'll buy another new one, they look so damn clean, its worth it to me but im like my chit clean

X scream uses 500 degree PJ1 engine and case paint for the motors. Seems to hold up well.

I always clean my tanks with comet and the scrubby side of a dish sponge. Works the best of all the methods I have tried.
