Payment/Financing

Be careful sinking so much money via credit into a toy that doesn't have insurance. It's different for a car because you won't lose so big if you got wrecked. You sink, get stolen, or total your ski you're going to still be paying for it out of pocket.

True story, however you can get insurance on them. I work in insurance . You can get them covered under its own policy or umbrella

I built a dvx last year and just finished my v2. All cash. Building 2 skis back to back hurt. Hopefully this year I can save up some cash instead of bleeding green

I started with a down payment and loan from Yamaha on a new Superjet. Paid that off and now about to pay cash for an a/m hull. As long as you can make the payments a loan is fine the interest over the life of my superjet loan was less than $300 and it enabled me to ride it two seasons sooner than saving and paying cash.
yep thats what i did!also

Jet ski tetris...Buy and repair broken down jet skis and sell them for profit, profit goes towards parts needed....

Any of your toys should not be financed ..its always a loss , you should always pay cash for this stuff , its important to watch for seasonal pricing as well as vendor deals.

Amen!! Money made in jet skis...stays in jet skis. Ripping apart Old 550s have paid my way through affording this hobby since I was 12.

Only problem I've run into flipping skis is title and bill of sale issues. In TX at least, all of the paperwork is sometimes not worth the hassle. Other states its way easier/non existent.

Parts is a different story. Flipped some engines to fund my sj. Buy, sell, reinvest until you have what you want (something that will never happen in this sport, you'll always want the next best thing)

As reiterated somewhere in this thread, if you dont have the cash to buy it, you shouldn't be buying it. If you're financing and plan to only pay the minimum you are screwing yourself. (Goes w credit cards too)

If it's of any help to anyone, my two cents.

I've wondered the same thing many times in my life. Some people I know make far less and have far more "expensive fun things" and are happy living in debt. Works for them, I personally get sick to my stomach over debt. I'm extreme the other way.

Life is an accumulation. Don't underestimate the power of baby steps. Move in the direction of your dreams. Start saving now. Manage the value and your cost of ownership or loss. You have needs, wants, and nice to haves. In my opinion, don't go into debt for the later. Life has a funny way of sneaking up and throwing needs at you. Save debt for a last resort. It never ceases to amaze me when I want to make a big purchase. By the time you save the cash for it, you'll know what it's worth not just what it costs. I make better decisions paying cash.

Remember, the internet and this forum shrinks the world. Focus on you. Don't worry how other people do it. If you want it bad enough I guarantee you'll find a way that fits your needs, comfort, and budget.

I think cash is the best option but bottom line, do what makes YOU happy and don't look back!

and that's why there are no decent skis for people to get into the sport with. All the superjets have been stripped and chopped up to build aftermarket junker skis
