Anything in print is in danger nowadays. It's hard to stay relevant when your coverage of something is 8 weeks old by the time it's in people's hands.

That sucks. It's awkward to take the laptop into the bathroom. Magazine still rules the crapper.

They received suggestion after suggestion on how to improve their magazine..They followed very few. Basically just big budget builds that replicated .5% of PWCToday or Greenhulk guys were interested in.

Their last issue I got had an article on GLUING in a set of footholds...and editorial about no 2010 Honda PWCs and then a "buyer's guide" with 2010 Honda PWC's models in it.

I saw more wake boarding tips in each issue than I did freestyle how-to's.

One thing to realize is that subscriptions don't pay the bills for magazine, advertising does.

This is not a good sign for our hobby/sport/interest/pastime/timekiller/money-waster.

Stand up jet ski's are to hard to ride ! That's why couches rule dollar wise, the manufacturer's go where the money is and it is not in standup jet ski's and never will be. The only hope this sport has is freeride/surf it will have to capture the attention of people with big money.

:bad:

i know what they were charging for advertisement and i can say that it is not a cost of production / publication that killed them it is more than likely a debt/ cost of vacationing for business to cover the sport to profit margins for the publisher.

our ads are a fraction of the cost and subscriptions cover shipping, ads pay for production.

Welcome the new generation of for the enthusiast by the enthusiast!!!!!!

nonsense! Surfing the interwebs and sitting on the throne is the bees knees...just can't rock some big laptop...actually I think this is what netbooks were invented for!

I don't know about that...Everyone from The Wall Street Journal on down to small mags has been struggling with declining revenue over the last year. The internet has done alot to change the way we take in our news and information and either all print media evolves or it goes away, simple as that. Alot of publishers are now looking at new technologies (Kindle etc) to help them deliver a relevant product to their subscribers...

I think this is a rather presumptuous statement...there is no way any of us (ie not the publisher or their bookkeepers) can even begin to assume something like what you stated. We should be discussing what the future could be (like your new magazine), not negative opinions about the past. Not trying to pick a fight but...

Its a shame to see PWI go away and I truly feel for its employees as they got thrown into a really crappy situation with all this. Hopefully we will all be able to pull something positive out of this extreme negative in the future, I know I am going to try...

news papers are in trouble i never buy a paper anymore just go online, heck i even get the daily racing forum online, but they are smart i pay for it, i think a jet ski magazine can work, how about a online magazine , will there be any paper media in the future?

X2 but it seems that is the only place that I ever read magazines anymore and I'm not full of enough crap to read all the magazines I get...!

Personally I have been impressed with the magazine of late... They have featured at least one RonnyMac Story and several of his pics in every issue. There are atleast 5 pages of stand-up pictures... I thought that article on "gluing" was cool b/c it was written by a kid... just starting out in the sport...

Everyone is right though we have moved to instant news world. Why wait for a magazine to tell you about the latest pwc models... you can go on the manufacturer's website and watch videos of the latest models the day they are released....
