personal watercraft illustrated magazine shutting down in 2010??

its raining again!
I think it would be cool to have an international mag, so that you can find out whats going on elsewhere in the world. We have jetskieruk over here which is ok but you would be surprised how many people have no idea how much aftermarket parts are available or that you can buy an "aftermarket hull?".

Larger subscriptions would help cover costs of distribution plus larger scope for companys to advertise.

It would help spread the word of freeride etc to a larger un educated audiance.

And a small half page spread for couches! lol

Not enough people bought the magazines for them to survive, say what you want, PWI is gone, support the one magazine we have left.

Sorry guys, no love for PWI here, let it go. I hate to point this out but we’re all posting in the future format right now. Who needs a magazine when you have the X? How can a magazine compete with a forum like the X? The X is online, it changes daily and you can watch video feeds that you or others posted. How can a magazine compete with that? I love the X, the X is the future.

I hate that they are going under, but honestly, past 6-8 issues have gone in the trash. I dont mine reading some stuff about runabouts, but 20 pages about wakeboarding is just rediculous...... Face it, there really is not much to write about now. Racing is nothing like it use to be. Freestyle even though it is at its peak on innovation, competition is really dead.

"So Long, Farewell PWI"

I was quoted in SPLASH in their last issue saying pretty much the same words.

Who the hell can afford it anymore? I am not bitchin about the promoters or the suppliers, but the economy sucks and things are real tight for most of us. BTW-I am passing a offering plate around at Daytona for the GilneedsMS109 fund. lol

I would like to think that the X or something like it could make a great advertising tool as well to support some of the mfrs. involved in our sport. I know it is now but I mean REAL ADVERTISEMENT. Real on line video commercials. The fear is always that it begins to get controlled by the advertiser that pays the most. Turn X into an online mag with an OPEN FORUM. Daren would be Rich and vendors would do better as well.

I had some aspirations of doing something like that once, but once I saw how hard it was to get advertisers to pony up just $25/month for a banner ad here, reality set in pretty quickly.

Hey can't blame the builders if they can advertise on the X for free they will. Or at a low low cost of $25 bucks. LOL

The only way a Magazine can survive these days is through Photography. They need to make it a point in having GREAT shots by known photographers in the business. Having a double middle page spread of Ross doing a super flip is what I am talking about....I will subscribed just for that..... and it will go straight on my wall in my Garage. Different shots by different riders every month.

Quality Photographs and unique ones is where is at.....the ones you won't find on the internet but through the Magazine only.

This is exactly what I suggested to the new Wetracer Mag guys.
