Very interested in this, I'll be defoaming my ski soon. I've considered using pinging balls but I've heard some bad things so I figured polystyerene would be better.

I'll keep watching before I ask questions.

I had thought about that Jeremy.....just leave it in there and it absorbs a little resin and no problem, right?

I dunno...I'm walking away for a minute...

HS! how did i miss this thread when it was newborn? I've been beating the beer pong ball drum since i did it do an Octane 3 years ago it worked out great. Glad to see someone else here lending it legitimacy. Your additional supports are a good idea, though i did not/have not found them necessary 3 years later. Way better than foam and no shaping required. I sheeted over my balls with a cut out spiny 'office chair floor mat' and its held them all in place and provided that final flat surface. The only place i used foam was in the rails above the deck of the tray. Good luck MADMAT, let us know how it turns out please. And for anyone else reading this- make sure your buying plastic balls aka. beer pong balls or washable ping pong balls. If you buy China special ping pong balls balls made from cellulose instead- you'll regret it

Ok, so I have a question, and you may address this later.

How will you structurally support the gunwales? Are they beefy enough out of the mold or will you be adding something?
I assume you would make a structure like your tray reinforcment you've done already, but I wasn't sure.

I intend on doing this (maybe with ping pong balls) and the plan for the gunwales have me scratching my head.

BTW, pic with your kid in it is classic.
