Have you noticed your ride plate being a little too wide? Both of my plates need to have spacer's.lf l don't use the spacers, when ya tighten the bolts, the plate bows out in the middle causing a vibration at speed.

One was almost good as is, the other was really wide. I glassed like 4 layers onto the inside mounting faces of both plates and it's better now. They still take persuasion to get on though. Probably would be would be better if it bolted from the bottom... Oh, and the inserts are all stripping out..!

I have one trying too! (Used a longer screw!) But it is the one that is right behind the scupper flap,so it would be easy to replace.

What are your plans to do to fix or replace them?

Figured some new pictures were due. Added the RRP pole so the engine could breath, replaced the 46 Novis with 48s, went from 13/18 prop to 15/22, turfed one rail, and now running my new Surf Scoops air intake system...

Can you post up some info on how you did the homemade holds? I have Krash holds in my sj and I was thinking about modifying them to my liking, but if it's pretty easy to make my own I might do that instead.

I'm trying to flat water back flip, and the closest I got was with no ride plate. I couldn't bring myself to cutting that much off the plates that came with the hull, so I made my own. Not pretty; I'll paint it when I have time. But it should protect the pump and scupper just fine!

good call rolling the turf over the rear end of ski... I bash my knees on there all the time(hard too)........................ Im currently running the long plate on my ski but just bought another plate so I plan to chop about 4 inches off the current one on ski.........Im running a BB 781 with 9/15 impeller

You run the full plate?! I run one -2 for the surf, and minus all the way for flat water. The short one is doable in surf, just wears me out faster.

And I wrapped the Krash holds in cellophane, then layed a couple layers of glass on the inside of the holds. Remove them and build up more layers on the outside so they don't start getting too small on the inside. That's all I did.

yes I run a full length plate(didn't have the heart to chop it till I ordered a 2nd plate(thanks to Matt))........................................... I only ride flat water n I haven't come close to a flip unless its off a boat wake. Ill keep up the practice but its 45 degrees out now so I don't get much riding in anymore. Hope to make it to Daytona with rocket so Ill go balls to the wall there.................. Ive never attempted barrel roll but plan to try as well

Well after trashing motor mounts and coupler dampeners at Wave Daze, I pulled the engine again to put my RHAAS bearing carrier in along with a 1.25" shorter driveshaft out of a Polaris MSX. Should give me enough room to pull the gas tank out without having to pull the pump and slide the engine back first...
Oh, and busted my B-pipe manifold, but nothing my Tig machine couldn't fix!

Well ever since I bought my Octane in 2010, it had a crack running the length of the threads at the point of the head pipe flange bolt. I heli coiled it at some point and it was never a problem. Till Saturday when someone said "you know your manifold is cracked?" Sure enough on Sunday, oil was all over the place and I saw that a couple chunks of aluminum broke off. I'll post pictures later.
