Pole spring tension after shortening.

Ok, shortened the RN pole -4, and upon reassembly, the pole wants to stand straight up. With the chinpad on, it gets better, but still way more springy then before the cut. Is this normal, I'm pretty sure that I have the spring back in there correct. Seems possible, as 4 inches out would give you a lot more leverage. Thanks in advance!

Yeah, it's normal. Mine did exactly the same. I had to toghten the hell out of the pole bolt just to keep it semi-sticky.

Now, when I have the ski in the garage, I tie the pole down. It's getting better slowly.

Can the "tie the pole down" trick be done in some reverse manner to stretch the sping back out so the pole isn't so heavy? Should I not be tieing my pole down while trailering?

My pole stays up while it is on the trailer about 45 deg. Stock pole -4 and tightened bolt Katie’s is the same way not need for bungee cord.

No bungee with a tightened bolt for sure. If the bolt is loose I wouldn't want it bouncing around every time I hit a bump.

if you hit a big dip or such even if the pole is stiff, it can still fly forward and stress the pole or nose of the ski........ unless you are running without a spring tie that joker down.

Sea-dude, I took 4 inches off the top. After re-assembly and doing some garage riding, I think I took too much. I guess I didn't want to take 2-3" and wish I had done more. Oh well, probably won't be too long until I snap this one.

Mine settled down enough now, but now I'm freaking out about it being too short. I think it's gonna hurt my back and actually make rolls more difficult. Oh well.
