porting question

i got 2 61x cylinders ones a 80mm and the other is a 84mm big bore and they both were ported for a superstock race boat, would it be a bad idea to put the 84mm that's heavily ported and epoxied in a freestyle boat?

Without really knowing how it was ported specifically, I think it will be hard to say. However, since it was originally a 61x, I doubt it would be any worse than running the 62T big bore.

They will probably run good if your pump load is low enough.

Crammit's super stock is a freakin stock stroke animal, so I vote yes. Don't listen to some of the cotton headed ninny muggins on here that tell you it won't work. Set up with the right combo of parts, it's probably better than most of the freestyle engines here.

hmm yeah i was just told the porting was made for racing and will no work.. but no matter what i need to bore either one of tease should i just bore the hevily ported and epoexed 84mm and use it or bore the lightly ported 80mm

Post pics of the porting. Also measure from the top of the cylinder down to the top of the exhaust port (in millimeter's please).

Has the 84mm cylinder been resleeved for big bore, or is it a 61X stock sleeved to 84mm?

i have 61x cylinders on my ski that have the 760 sleeves. it was a former race boat and it has a ton of power all over..... when i can can keep it running.

Can't really see anything in those pics...the thumbnail is as big as I can get them.

I just found this thread that might prove useful. http://www.x-h2o.com/threads/21863 If you scroll down, there are some big bore sleeves that show distances from the top of the exhaust to the top of the cylinder. #.0 says that the 62T sleeve is similar to the LA YA-5187B. If that's true and a stock 62T sleeve is around 37-38mm from the top of the cylinder, 34.5mm from the top is probably going to produce some wickedly bad bottom end performance. Also if you scroll down to post #36, 1550 posted a mapped cylinder that he bought off ebay. If your's is similar to that, I'd take #.0's advice.

how do you have a 61x at 80mm??? they start at 81mm unless that is a 6m6 big bored to 80mm

A 61X cylinder with stock porting has 39.5mm from deck to exhaust port roof.
