Post dumping: on a for sale thread, disputing the asking price publicly in order to get a lower price

Some members don't get what it is, others get it but don't agree with the no post dumping rule, others like it.

The reason for the rule is a seller has a right to ask a certain price without everyone and their brother saying it's not worth that, you can buy it here for $$ cheaper, I have one for sale for $10 less, etc etc.

Should we get rid of the rule? Keep it?

My ears are open.

Well, it is hard to say.
What if someone is advertising something wrong or misrepresented?
What if the price is way out of line?
Are you not allowed to post because that will be post dumping?

even posting something like that would be fine depending on the "tone" of the message, IMHO.

But there are certain ppl here that feel they need to cr@p on many sale threads. that is unnecessary.

if it's misrepresented, a correction is fine, like if it's an older squarenose midshaft and they're saying it's for a roundnose.

Who defines what is 'out of line' on a price? If it's out of line, it won't sell. You can pm the person and give your opinion, but they have a right to set their asking price.

Or is market-driven pricing the foundation of a freemarket economy?

If it's too high of a price, then it won't sell and the price may be dropped, correct?

Well, the idea of the rule is good, but the question is how it is implemented. :bad3:

As it stands now, an offer of a high Blue Book price for a ski (which is listed with the "best offer" option, BTW) is considered a post dumping and results in an infraction. :ugh2:

I am against it. :thinkerg:

What are you talking about?

Making an offer is not at all post dumping.

Well what about my post here

http://www.x-h2o.com/threads/p=575214#post575214

The seller really doesn't know what he has or what it's worth.
Is my post a "post dump"
I don't like when people are selling something they're not sure what it is or if it works

Octane thread, rings a bell?

No?

I don't read every single thread/post on here, I know that may come as a surprise to some, but I don't, and I'm sure I remember far fewer even if I did post on it.
