Post dumping - what is it, should we allow it?

It's a stupid rule ,you should be able to comment about someones price if it's too high and/or comment on the condition of the parts as well .
If your confident in your parts condition and have an appropriate price there should be no reason for post dumping .

Keep it and enforce it on everyones threads except for Hangtimes, apparantly he likes post dumping on his threads

Art, it is disrespectful at best. You may feel it is ok to tell someone how they are asking too much, but I know I would be pissed off if you did.

I see your point but I just think you guys take it too far .As long as your not rude about it I see no harm in haggling the price in public .

I don't know which one of you removed Steve at WCF post dump on my lamey cyl thread but I really had no problem with him saying my cylinder wasn't that good of a deal because I know it is a good deal .

The example DJ gave is being rude and honestly I can't recall ever seeing a post like that on someones for sale thread but saying someones price is too high is not rude .
The bottom line is this ,if it's a real good deal it will sell no matter what anyone says and if it's not it won't.

Like I said this is why the rule should be enforced on everyones thread except for yours, you want the turmoil and BS on your thread ,you should be allowed to have it,I DO NOT WANT IT ON MINE,NO THANK YOU!:wiggle:

i say keep it.

and a poll on this thread wouldnt hurt either.

like previously stated pm if the price is listed too high.
or do what dj said and politely offer a lower price.

the seller will realize after a week or two that their price is out of line.

sometimes people list stuff cheap and the first guy there gets the deal... other times its listed high but someone might pay it. no need to jack up a for sale thread over it

Keep it.

Two or three people (that have a track record of being rude) having a problem with a rule is hardly justification to drop a rule.

No post dumping keeps the sales threads a bit more civilized.
Here's a neat ASCII flow chart for the dull:

1. Are you interested in buying?
1.a NO. This isn't a thread for you to comment on pricing.
2.a YES Don't like the price?
2.a.1 Offer what you think is a reasonable price in a nice manner, either by post or PM
2.a.2 Don't buy.

Well, it is hard to say.
What if someone is advertising something wrong or misrepresented?
What if the price is way out of line?
Are you not allowed to post because that will be post dumping?

Way out of line???? Then don't buy it or PM the seller. The market i.e buyers will decide if it's way out of line.

I say keep the rule.

Just to be clear.
I am for the rule of no post dumping.
I just think there are some exceptions to the rule.
