Custom/Hybrid Predator Talk

Why do the predator foot holds have such small mounting hardware ? Is that why you run a dakine strap @tightithrash?

They don't look like they would hold up to much abuse

can't speak for the foam or for the design of the holds, I can say that the hardware is not a weak point. I stuffed my nose into the sand very hard 2 weeks ago, i actually pulled the little square peice that sits down in the track through the track because i had the rear square set right at the cutout in the center where you would insert the square. I reistalled the square and moved the holds back a 1/2 inch and no problems yet

My hardware held up perfectly fine in my footrocket, looks to be the same hardware. The foam in my footrocket was a 2 part closed cell foam, doesn't absorb water. I can only assume the predator has similar.

I'm going to try something different with footholds.

Also, what pole bolt do y'all use on the Predator or Footrocket? I heard that any a/m pole bolt will be too long to fit in the bracket area unless you grind a little bit off on both end or just get an OEM bolt.

On my Footrocket I used an RRP bolt and ground the ends like you said.

I used an RRP bolt, did not use the washers and had to trim about a 1/4 inch off the thread side, working good

Cold fusion bolt is similar dimensions to RRP although it's stainless and the head end is a little thinner. I opted to use the RRP, alum is easier to shorten and it was black

How are people finding the Krash footholds that wrap around your feet? do you find your feet fall out at all? Kicking in hold is taking it's toll on my toes as ive broken them several times now.
I ride both feet at the back to roll and flip so don't think straps are ideal for me.

What parts would i need if any to transfer from a superjet to a predator to be an RTR??
i have stock pump,gas tank,waterbox,motor mounts,shafts...760 bb motor, bpipe,standard Ebox,rrp pole,blowsion trim system,etc..etc..

i can go to the expense of a waterbox if need be
any mounting hardware i need?
ebox mounting bracket?
oem motor mounts ok?
just making sure i have enough money to switch over and no un foreseen expense except for if something broke while transfering parts

It will all swap over. Oem mounts are fine. You can use your ebox brackets or just 2 large bolts through the FFH to mount the ebox.

List of stuff you will/might need or that needs addressed as I don't know for sure:
Hood seal
Hood strap (or use stock latch)
Hood hooks (can't answer if oem's will work or not)

Check my build thread if you'd like...might help answer some questions:

There's also a couple more predator specific builds (aka assemblies) over on OZfreeride.com

Broken your toes on a pred or on other skis? I have found that adding a layer of turf to the foothold and wrapping it around to mask the sharp edge helps big time. They are adjustable height so once you get them dialed in for whatever show you wear your good to go and you should stay in no problem

did you own a superjet before?
was it worth the swich over?
does it ride way better and easier in the surf?
no pearling, easier backflipping and barrel rolling? thats ort of stuff

I would say it's well worth the switch over for surf riding, it does everything in the surf very well. Flips, rolls, no pearling. You can stick this ski in any part of the wave and it won't pitch you, makes surf riding a blast

Came from a Q8 to the predator. Yes it was worth the switch, I'm very happy with mine. The predator doesn't compare to anything else I've ridden in the surf. D, all of the above on your last question.

Come up to the Grayland Open next weekend, you can check them out for yourself and fire away with any questions. The US distributors will all be on site as well as Barton himself all weekend...doesn't get much easier than that to get info and nail down a test ride on a Krash hull.

ok thanks for the info..
my friend riley which happens to be my neighbor here in oregon just started distributing them also
he has a footrocket tho.. but will check it out thanks
You're all set. Hitch a ride w/ Riley next weekend, guaranteed to be a good time.
