Well, the guy that took first deserved, as the double tricks he did really outshown everyoen else.

I felt the guy that got third, should have took 2nd, for the no-handed barrel roll, as the guy that took second just did what everyone else did, and nothing they didn't.

From about 6th on up, was pretty good, espically for the conditions.

Still, would like to see some original tricks developed.

Part of what keeps the best atop the BMX and Moto-X freestyle comps, is the guys come up with new tricks for each year, and it seems that nothing new has come along in Freestyle for a while now.

Not sure what shape a new trick could take, but inovation is what puts you on the top of the ladder, and it would be nice to see a trick that no one else pulled, even if it was not to hard, or technical, the originality of it would more than make up for it, at least IMO.

I watched his run on video.............. I honestly yawned.......... I had more fun watching Wasteland do is run in Tupelo Ms. at a Reg 7 regional competiton.......... There was some excitement and enthusiasm shown by that kid...........

Bingo................

I still have video from the 2000-2001 WF where Rius, Jacobs, Mac were racing in what looked to be 2-3 foot chop............ You deal with it.......... Not stand on the beach and cry like a freaking baby.

Where nascar stops the race, Indy Car & Formula 1 will throw on rain tires and keep going........... hell, I think Superbike racing will still go on in the rain........

and that is racing, not freestyle.. racing is a grudge match, freestyle is a show.

two completely different animals... they should be racing in that..

my point stands here.... NO ONE is looking to see who can do the best roll, flip in the worst conditions... that may make you a better rider, but it certianly won't make a better showing for the sport. I think it kinda showed what it does...

Really, How do you guys know that no one DID have any new tricks lined up for their run??? How do you know they didn't scrap that idea, cause the conditions sucked??? Optimum conditions will create optimum results. END OF STORY!!!!

example:
lets have a surf comp in 2 ft chop becuase we can, then the guy w/ the 4ft backflip can win... god, that would be so exciting and great for the sport... like the Pismo event would have been so much more successful if it had been 3ft and choppy w/ 20mph onshore winds.. give me a break man...

are ya getting my point????

I thought they did great for the conditions. If it was that choppy on video, it must have been tough. After seeing the conditions, Most of those guys probably threw out their original intended routine. Flat-water free-style is very technical(with or without crazy power). I say they did the best they could with what they had. Great job guys!!!

Hey John, what is your view...............

A. Should you just have to deal with the conditions
or
B. You cry and say "It is too rough"

man, you just don't get it...

nevermind, talking to you is like talking to a wall....
why do I even bother

I thought they did excellent for the conditions.... given better conditions the riders would ahve immpressed more and people in this thread wouldn't be compaining about the lack of innovation, cause someone would have pulled something huge...

I always competed no-matter what the conditions were. Even when it was pouring with crazy lightning(jetwaves Brazil 2003) or I was sick or my ski was running on 1 cylinder etc. etc.. Alot of times I sucked and wished I had never been born!!! He he he he. But every once in great while there was GLOOOORRRYY!!!!

From someone who has never competed in freestyle.....

I have done it in all kinds of conditions........ Yeah, perfect flat conditions are ideal....... But, can you imagine the cost to build a temperary break water? It is never going to happen, at least at World Finals.......

Point being, you have to play with the cards that are delt to you....... Havasu has had years of great conditions and years of not so great......... You go out there and you give it your all........ look at Watanabe..... he pulled flat water back flips and flairs with ease......... yeah, I said it was boring, but he still did them..........

In a perfect world the water would be perfect.................

it sucks when you have to deal with those conditions.

for real, competitors will show up and compete no matter what the conditions.... once youre there.. youre there.

i think bk took what slut was saying and twisted it up into some weird tangent.

all slut was saying (i think) is that the better the conditions.. the better the tricks/performances. (shortened version)

"adapting... the conditions should always be the same...
this is a professional sport for gods sake, we can't get clean conditions on that lake???... put a god damn barrier up or something.."

no twisting, just going off this............(This is not a perfect world, mother nature likes to put her one twist in things)

and as Suicide put it, you deal with it...................

You were saying that "they should put up a God ...... Barrier"............ I said, "you deal with it".......... dont see any agreement.........

stating that flat conditions are ideal for flat water freestyle is just a statement........... we would all prefer that but you know what they say............"Sheet Happens", it rains, the wind blows........ life goes on.

Honestly, The Powers that Be really do not give a rats ass about freestyle.......... there were only 20 competitors (give or take 4) for the whole week vs. a couple hundred racers........ we need to be thankfull that they even have freestyle.......

thanks for proving my point once again... the powers that be don't care and the guys compete in crap.

turn it around though...

the powers care, put up some money, make an investment in the future so guys compete in a state of the art facility, more people compete, more people watch, more money, tv, ect... what they are doing now is half ass IMO... and my opinion does count, because I'm looking at it from the outside.. just as you stated, I don't compete, but I gad damn well know what is interesting... and being that only about half of that was actually immpressive.. watch a MX freestyle. you will be hard pressed to pick a winner cause they are all so good, w/ great bike in perfect conditions. That's what it will take to make this sport move anywhere besides down the tubes. how amny years ahs this sport gone nowhere... not even a blip on any sports news...EVER!!!! I use to see jet sking on ESPN...
