well, that 550 (400) has been removed from the dryer , but it will never be ridden...lol, it's number 000034873. I'm gonna try and keep it in tact as long as I possibly can. I beat the crap out of skis, and that thing would be no exception. I used it to shell the f/i 850 beast, all the stock components have been re-installed. there's only one person I know of who has one older than this one, and I'm gong to try like hell to restore it to showroom status without painting it or anything.

I like the idea of still being able to read through the locked threads

You can do that now. :wiggle:

and like the idea of being able to read the bad posts as well. There is always the possibility of finding something important in the middle of the BS, once it is deleted that option is gone. I also use such research when deciding which members advice to take.

Good thoughts.

In this "hell" would the entire thread be sent there? Or would you just chop the thread where it get off topic and move it, like Matt did with the handlebar thread that started in Crab's for sale thread? I'd be for the latter. If the offending parties want to keep up their bickering and fighting, let them. It's off topic, so nobody can really bitch about their post being deleted.

Also, maybe we can add another symbol next to the report triangle that looks like an eraser. This acts like a vote to delete. Enough votes and it gets deleted or a moderator gets informed to delete it. That way we can 'vote' to delete something without holding 'jury'.

interesting idea - JETT, is there a hack or coding for something like this?

Well you could use the "delete" button to report a thread as "ready to go to hell" instead of deleting. Then even if it was abused, the threads would simply be moved. No big harm done.

How about instead of a special forum for bad threads you have a special forum for those who wish to sanitize the site of all personality?

Call it the Sanitarium and all the Wards and Junes on the site can post there in a nice, clean, always friendly, Pollyanna-style forum.

Edit - BTW, I agree with Darin that there is nothing wrong with the site the way it is currently run.

i say instead of banning "offenders", ban those that want to change the rules that they agreed to.

those are the real "offenders". :wavey:
