Protec CDI

I bought a SN superjet that had some spark issues, turned out to be the stator... but when I opened up the ebox it has a protec adjustable CDI. Are these similar to the MSD enhancer? Any benefit in switching to the MSD enhancer on a mild freestyle performance ski?

Only thing difference is a 3* timing advance on the MSD if im not mistaken. You could adjust that in your stator and basically have the same thing. But it might also change the curve? Not sure on that part though...

I think it is 4* ...and I am shocked every time I hear someone (especially anyone who rides hard) say that a MSD enhancer makes no difference.

That 4* combined with the hotter spark and extra 500 RPMS is night and day on my back to back tests with no other changes.

Agreed. I noticed a nice improvement.

500 rpm is a lot. coffman told me they made the rossier pipe for seadoo 951 and it raised the rpm 350 over stock. MSD stands for multiple spark discharge, which should mean it doesnt just zap once, but zaps multiple times for a longer period and that means better burn.

I think a lot of it has to to do with the pump being tuned....it always comes back to that!

If you are not pump tuned for instant prop response up the face of the wave then you may not need the extra 5 to spin the prop to the moon at the last second.

I'm really Interested about your 500 rpm gain? I'm assuming this is at peak rpm?

I honestly don't know that is what I always heard it was with limiter turned all the way open...

Looking at that graph again reminds me it is probably more about timing and spark than anything else!
