Just wondering what pump set-ups are being run on this size motor, Ill be running X-Sceam 771 next year, I have a 9/15 Hooker but Im thinking with the increase in power there should be a better option

I ran a 9/15 hooker on my speedwerx big bore engine. It was awesome. I'm getting ready to try a mag pump but I was still happy with the 9/15.

I have a 85.5mm bore lamey pv motor Stock stroke. I have been through a number of set ups including a hooker impeller and 140mm mag. Best all around set up I had was a tbm cone and 13/17 skat or 13/18. Currently have a hooker impeller and tbm but am going back to a skat 13/17. The hooker just kills my mid range power. Feels like my motor is stuck in low gear. The 13/17 gave me clean power throughout the rpm range. The hooker is nice for hook up, but my motor just prefers the skat

You are probably in the fine tuning range depending on the pipe. A limited pipe may be short on rpm but not much.

I had the 9/15 Hooker on my ported 760 and felt the same as you describe. I replaced it with a 10/16 and the ski came alive. Trying a 140mm Mag now with a 14/19...

Hi. I have a LPW 771 and I tried a 9/15 Hooker and just didn't feel like it was right. Now I am running a 13/17 Solas with a 3mm cut back and much better. I also have my nozzle bored to 86 and WetWolf freestyle cone. I would agree with above comment about it lost mid range. In the spring I will be trying a 140 set back Mag pump.

I have a 10/16 in there now. Also had a 140mm mag with a 14/19. It had awesome hook up and I could tell everything about it was better, but the extra weight made the ski handle differently so I went back to a stock pump set up. Plus I just felt the motor was working harder and didn't rev as fast with the 140mm pump. I think the 144 mag would have been better for my set up. It is lighter than the 140mm and will have less pressure......putting less load on the motor and letting it rev faster.

Are you getting your mag from Brian?

I got mine from tricky1.

I think the 86mm nozzle and stubby cone with the 9/15 is too much. Maybe a stock cone will be better but that nozzle just seems too big for that motor.

That is what i ran on my DASA Lamey non PV 85.5mm(780cc) SJ, only w/ a 12/17 Skat swirl cut back with TBM super pump cone on a blue printed pump.. It worked excellent, but the TBM made the ski stick to the water to well for my tastes on flat. So i took out the TBM cone. It just sucked the back down too much and wouldnt let it loose when I wanted it too.

I run a 771 Riva BB, and while i havent tried the hooker, i run a 13/17 -3mm solas concord with a WW cone too. I don't have instant bottom end power ( its not bad ), but i have great mid-range. Im sure i could swap to a big hub swirl and get more bottom end, but im not trying to back flip.

I had a 10/16 hooker on my LPW 771 and it was perfect. I have a 14/16 -3mm cutback solas concord that would probably work well for that setup too. $110 shipped

Looks like the 10/16 hooker and the 13/17 are the two most used...
Ive sent an email to Dave and Chuck and go with the top two recommended...If anybody wants to trade a 9/15 for a 10/17 PM me
not sure if i want to drop the coin quite yet on a mag pump

No thanks... Im not in to "probably work" on this build ... no disrespect

Fine tuning the pump load is very important yet few people do it. You need to have a tach and either learn how to bend blades or communicate with your prop guy. A tach and gps can give a lot of feedback that is otherwise difficult to feel. Your engine provider should give a target rpm along with his prop recommendations because they do vary in load.

I agree thats its important, I have a hunch that Impros will recommend the 10/16 and Xmetal will recommend the 13/17 so those are the two ill probably try, as far as using a radar gun/gps im not to sure about, i understand but i think you should set it up by feel, thats how we ride isnt it? if the impellers are that close that you need a gps to figure it out...well then your splitting hairs

Pitch options are:
9/15 (for anything from a stock 701 to a strong limited set up)
10/16 (for the more healthy version of a limited with porting, big carbs, etc)
11/17 (for maximum hook up and added HP)

So I would be in between 10/16 and 11/17 right?
