Super Jet Pump Set-up 771

I agree thats its important, I have a hunch that Impros will recommend the 10/16 and Xmetal will recommend the 13/17 so those are the two ill probably try, as far as using a radar gun/gps im not to sure about, i understand but i think you should set it up by feel, thats how we ride isnt it? if the impellers are that close that you need a gps to figure it out...well then your splitting hairs

They can be some awfully large hairs. At least keep a stock nozzle and one bored to 85-86mm so you have an easy way to adjust load. This will tell which way you need to go with the prop.

I only have a 61x bored to 85 and a stock 62t nozzle, could you explain what you mean by which way to go with the prop? this pump set-up is a new subject to me, Ill be putting trim on and I read you can modify the 61x for trim, do you think thats a better set-up?

I was trying to illustrate the importance of matching the pump load to the engine because it is critical for best performance. There is very little interest in doing this, the whole concept seems to be lost. Just do whatever your most respected builder or rider says and Im sure that you will be happy.

whatever engine builder you go with should select your impeller, unless they suggest you talk to someone else about it. Chuck knows his motors sweet spots so... Then again I always double check with Dave on all my setups and tell him what others have recomended.

XS 771 cc 144mm OEm PUMP 11/17 Hooker 7mm cut back IMPROS , bored nozzle 85...no stubby cone...runs like a champ, also had oem nozzle with stubby cone was not as good as the bored nozzle.

Just spoke with Dave and he figures I would spin a 10/16 Hooker and advised that I go with a 11/17 Hooker and if I decide to go with a mag he suggested to run the same impeller on a 144 Mag, I'll post Xmetals advise when I get ahold of them

Im running the 10/16's 3mm and 7mm cut back on my 760's ( 753cc ) im quite sure the 11/17 or c 75 12/17 is the way to go with oem pump or mag and or tbm

144 Mag with 11/17 Hooker would probably be a pretty kick ass set-up right?
I'm no really on the up and up with mag pump lingo but on the xscream site they say a 144 mag is for 771, But I've read some guys run a 140 Mag pump...

Normally I don't go against an engine builders recommendations but I REALLY don't like the concord props. When you get on the gas hard, the prop has a split second hesitation and makes it feel like the engine has a carb issue. Only the people with a particular riding style will be able to notice it but if you have that riding style, the only solution is a different prop.

So after talking to Impros and X-metal I've decided to run the 11/17 hooker on the stock pump, Xmetal told me a Mag pump wouldn't be worth the money for the difference it would make

No offense to you at all but who is the guy recommending this stuff from x-metal? I noticed instant results both on the bottom end and certainly on the top end from my 140 mag pump. My engine builder said to run a 13/18 and I could only find a 14/19 on short notice before daytona but even propped wrong, my mag pump was well worth the money.

Mag pump is better no doubt , but for he is looking for a cheaper option right...

I would take a mag set up any day over oem set up, but for now Hooker will have to do

"worth the money" is obviously subjective, but I thought it was well worth every cent I paid for mine.
