Surfriding quick steer mod question

Been trying to get some info on this mod. For a RN, do I just move the bolt to the outer setting on turn plate?
Also for the nozzle, do I just drill a hole to the left of where the steering bolt is now? Trying to get an idea of exactly where it goes. Any trimming on nozzle needed? What size drill bit should I use?

Move the cable end on the turn plate as far out as you can, and move the cable end on the nozzle as far in as you can.

Make sure you trim around the back of the nozzle so you can get all the throw possible and to keep the cable from binding up.

I'll take a pic later of how I did mine and post them to help you out.

I've got a 2012 SJ and am about to get a new cable and cold fusion plate, am i going to have to notch my steering nozzle like this as well? Makes me think i'm going to have to really notch it since there will be more throw..... Unfortunately on the 12s they have a ridge of plastic were i cant just drill a new hole on the steering nozzle. Suppose i'll have to file/cut that off first.

It is for a WB but they use the same nozzle so it applies to an SJ also.

Here is a pic of my nozzle.
It's kinda hard to see where I trimmed but if you compared your uncut nozzle to it you would see the difference.

I was out riding all day and WOW what a difference!! I can do 360's in a tight circle. Turn subs are super easy. I love this mod. Is it normal for the nozzle to turn to the right more than the left? Thanks for the pics

I have equal amount on both sides.
Did you trim enough on the left side of the nozzle?

It shouldn't touch the reduction nozzle at all when the bars are turned all the way left or right.

i didnt do any trimming on the left side, it was all on the right. The steering hits the stop in turn plate on both sides.

Thanks for posting this! What a difference does it make.

To get equal turning on my 01 RN, I had to grind a bit on the left side (both sides of the U cutout) and on the right near the steering tab (moved too close to nozzle).

be sure you are not hitting the waterline boss on the right side of the pump, I did this mod 6-7 years ago and my cable was hitting it and bent 2 cables before I realized what was causing it.
