Resurrecting the first Chan (super budget)

First off. No drama. You can talk to your woman if you like fighting and arguing.

I got this chan from Steve. Busted to hell on the bottom. One large crack and multiple small cracks. He told me there was issues with the infusion in the front. When repairing it you could tell the bottom wasn't fully saturated. I added 2 staggered patches over the big crack, of 1708, then a sheet of 1708 across the entire bottom, and another sheet of 1708 across the entire bottom and 3 inches up the side. Needles to say it is bulletproof now.

Tis is supposedly the first chan that ever made it to the water. And it's still around. It's carbon, Kevlar, and fiberglass. I added about 13 pounds to it. I don't know the weight but it's much lighter than a superjet. Plans for it are to ride it until my phantom is done. And then either sell it to my buddy, or keep it as a backup am hull.

I have a 62t/61x I frankensteined together from members here for about 250 bucks
Cheater pipe for now
Hooker 9/15
Custom battery box made at my work (stainless, custom sizes if anyone needs one)
Kart tank
Stock pump
Stock electronics
No water box
Shortened RN pole with bearing steering

Right now I'm waiting on a hd throttle cable and breather hoses from jetmaniac. A new pump seal off eBay, and Monday to get here so I can get the pipe from my buddy at work. I'm really hoping to have it on the water by nxt weekend.

Tis site has an issue with postings pics from other open pages. I swear it's something with the black background or something. I can copy and the link I'm trying onto any other forum board I try, this forum it saysaste, hit paste and nothing. Tapatalk sucks when trying to link pics from photobucket.

Edit; apparently this issue only affects ipad1

I'm keeping it pretty budget. I don't need all that crazy stuff a lot of the am hulls get. I wanted to get in the am world mainly because the skis are much shorter, rocker, the setback pump, and te pole mounting. The weight matters but to me it's not a big deal. I ride an extremely waterlogged square nose as my main ski, and I can do plenty on it.

I don't have any riding buddies really anymore, and especially not anyone with an am hull, or en the desire to learn. But I still love to go out solo and just practice practice practice. I can't wait to see how i progress once this thing hits the water. Anyone on here near red bluff/redding area? I know Quinc is n Chico or Oroville. Still haven't made it out to meet up with them yet.

Don't mind my rambling. This thread is more to just to keep tabs on the buildup of the ski and how it progresses and for help if needed along the way.

I did. But I guess I deleted them off my phone. It was a crack right abouts where the fuel tank would mount. Width ways. About 12 inches long. All the way through. The glass just looked like normal glass kinda. You cold tell it hadn't been saturated right. I wasn't through the whole ski, just in one area. Steve told me they used to pull theresin from this area with the vac, and it would pull too much from there. They figured it out fairly soon tho and got it figured out.

Got the pump in and aligned. Mine was pretty easy, I have about .125 of shim in th back of the pump to get it straight.

My throttle cable and breather tube showed up. I have a RN pole and don't think 2 rrp tubes are going to fit up there. I think I'm going to try and run one hose, block off the other ole, and let it breathe from the 1 hose, and threw my hood. I think it will have plenty of air for the engine I'm running. Shouldn't the inlets just have to be equal or greater to the inlet of the carburetors, or am I way off on thinking that?

Gotta make my battery tray tomorrow or Friday at work, and figure out an exhaust,o cause my buddy backed out on the cheater pipe. I'm broke as hell right ow trying to finish a SAS on my t100, and make it on a camping trip by the 25th, so we will se what happens. I may just end up being the first guy to ever run a stock exhaust in a aftermarket hull, but if need be, that's what I'll do till next month.

Otherwise, I should have everything installed, aligned, and torqued down this weekend.

I am going to have to come meet you I already drive 30 min south to the Afterbay, might have to start going north instead. =) Where do you ride in Red Bluff?

Red bluff river park. It's plenty deep enough. You can ride through the diversion dam, mand there is a huge rope swing down river. Can also weave in and out of the freeway overpasses. Pretty fun. Everyone says the river is cold but I swear it doesn't bother me at all.

I think I rode that hull! At Daytona, when Steve came out.

Seems so long ago. Good times.

You need to post the IMG files from Photobucket. Down load the app, makes using your iPad easier.

Post more pics!

Yeah. It's that chan. Bunch of people have rode it. It's a whore. Story of my life

Yeah I've been using photobucket a while, but it doesn't copy it t this page, even after I highlight it, hit copy, then come here, hit paste, it just tells me f you

Nice! You get any rapids in the winter?

Yup. We ride cow creek in redding every year after a big flood. Muddy brown water raging. If your ski comes out of your hands there's a very good chance you won't see it again. We go in groups. Super fun. Sometimes a ride plate or 2 gets broken. Good times

This is the sac river in talking about.
