Title says it all. Would prefer people to only post that have ridden both and or owned both. I know, not going to be many out there. Just curious. These 2 hulls are really the only what I call Freeride Hulls out there. They can do a little of everything. I do not like the supershort backflip only hulls. cannot ride them.

The Edge truly does it all. Have yet to ride anything else that is as versatile. The Vision hull has probably been the closest to being as versatile but has a few quirky handling traits.

I have not had the chance to ride a -4.3 superfreak but I have ridden two different -2's a bunch and a circus (which is obviously a completely different animal)

Does the weight of either hull concern you at all? From what I've read and seen in person the Rickters tend to have a nicer build quality/fit and finish compared to the Superfreaks, but at the cost of weight.

The Edge is heavier. But overall all Rickter are heavy but look at how some people ride them. Chris Anyzeski threw and 84mm big bore in one and was throwing it around like it weighed nothing. I think they may have a better design that let's it pop off the water better. That is just my thoughts. Also for me. I do not care to back flip.

Only got to drool over Rattis edge at Dias but not sure if good ol' Made in America influences you at all but one is made a couple states over from you and the other was outsourced to a low cost country thousands of miles away. Some people care, most probably dont.

I got to ride Taylor Curtis' new 2016 edge in both the surf and at the lake and that hull can do it all. You could compete with it in pro freeride and then ride boat wakes and race bouys with your friends. Rides super straight at full speed in the chop and on glassy water. It carves and turns so nicely on both flat water and in the surf.

I've also ridden a 4.3 freak a few times in surf and on flat.

I know what I would choose.

The chan I had was about 87lbs. The rickter is much heavier but releases from the water much easier. I get more height with a heavier boat. Being heavier it also rides through chop much easier.
The edge is a great all around boat.

I wish you lived near us man I'd let ya ride my edge as long as you want. I love mine ( as you know lol ) I think it's the boat for you since you have experience attacking a race course as well. The edge is a lot more nimble then the previous Rickters I honestly don't think they should ever change it. Like eastcoast said it can and will do it all. Plus there isn't a build, only a assembly to getting them on the water.

I think an edge carves well for a freestyle/freeride ski, but saying it does buoys well is an exaggeration. Though my motor is lightswitchy, so maybe it is different for a more linear motor and some tubbys?

I think the EDGE would rip some buoys. I loved that thing in flat which is where I rode it. And I have only ridden the EDGE on flatwater and a -1.5 Badass in the surf and I feel it would have to be compared to more of a -5 Badass and I would need more time on both in both conditions. I'd probably get a carbon EDGE if money wasn't a concern but Superfreaks seem to be able to be found for better deals since they have been out for a few years. Which means in real life, I'd go Badass right now. I loved both hulls really

From what I have seen/experienced, I would go for the edge. Have never rode an edge but have been on every other model, rickter is hands down best quailty control.

The goal with the edge was to bring speed and aggression back into freeride. Which the hull allows the rider to do the best. You can go from attacking faces, waves, whatever to throwing your aerials with ease as well.

The assembly vs extensive ass busting build involved in the 2 is no comparison as is the handling department. One hull is also 5-6 years ago tech vs today's. The sport has changed. Riders are looking to ride fast in surf again. A tiger craft Sv1, predator, vision. Are closer in comparison then any SF.
