Rickter scupper removal

I used a small pry bar and the claw end of a hammer to pop mine off. I then used a dremel to get rid of all the hardened glue/epoxy then installed the versa. Pretty simple.

Mine was glued on the inside of the hull. How I finally got it out was to use the hook end of a hammer to pry it from the backside. Bent the ring but got it out.

PITA job, mine was in there solid. Go slow and take your time, you will have a little of the messed up part show. I used sealer around the new valve to cover it up. Depending on the hull you might need to build a front support for the valve inside the hull with epoxy.

Sorry some of the pics post sideways.

The final pic looks worse that it is, the ski was dirty and the flash makes thing look bad.

Yeah just bust through the alum like baja its the best way to not mark up the hull. Once you busted through you can just pull it up working around. It was really in there.

So I'm guessing the thrust setup seal better? I was going to small earth magnets to try and get mine to seal better/ all the way

The thrust one actually seals... whereas the rickter one basically fills your ski up with water in 15 minutes of sitting on the shoreline.

i used a screwdriver to get under the lip of one side and applied pressure then I put another one under the opposite side and applied equal force. Clean removal ensued.

Easiest way to remove flap and put pry at into scupper hole and pry off . May take 2-3' bar to do it and a little get will help soften the glue on the ring as well . If you pry from outside edges you are more likely to damage the hull . Also the truck thing works but a little dangerous we have actually pulled some pump that way before too .

That an XFS Comp?

Looking at the same for mine but didn't think I could run it with out a tube.

Did u fit one in the pump tunnel also?

Cheers

My 16 Comp hull is open, no tube. That's why I needed to make a support out of epoxy to support the front of the valve. FYI, mine was special order with foam Comps don't normaly have foam under tray. The Thrust valve doesn't fit in the tunnel it would hit the exhaust tube. That scupper (in mine) doesn't ever leak, I think it's because it's not sticking out there and getting abused on landings.

My other scupper still doesn't leak, but I do worry about it. Your idea of a plate tapped for a smaller versi plug would work, but obviously would not let water out as fast. I wonder if you could make a plate that would hold 2 or 3 of the small ones.
