RICKTER talk

It's not cracks in the fiber it's cracks on the gel coat/paint from flexing on the Rickters. Now a superjet yeah those crack all the way through if you give it a dirty look.

I ride/hang with TC and he has never once had a rickter that was jacked up to the point you couldn't ride it, my fr2 evo has some minor stress cracks and 2 of my buddy's have fs2 evos and no problems and we ride every weekend at pismo in heavy to mild surf. Rickters are the most well built surf hulls on the market and freeriders huck them to the moon with no issues other than spider cracks and a rare minor crack. If you thrash your hull like beaching it on rocks or throwing it into your truck or trailer it will not last. Heres a little rickter porn from our last freeride.

Most of these hulls are brand new to 3 years old at most. Yes the construction of them is far superior than mass mfg superjets and even other A/M hulls. But resin and glass and carbon fiber is just that. They don't last forever. (Hundreds-thousands) of flips, rolls, spins, whatever) takes a toll on the rigidity of these materials.

What is the life expectancy from the manufacturer and what is the depreciation value determined by? Supply and demand vs straight depreciation? Are they building these to last forever or is there always gonna be turnover year after year, and are they actually improved models?


No hate here, trust me I'm dying to get on a Rickter hull. Just trying to make an informed decision because I don't have a disposable income.

From someone who rides as much as I do(and isn't flowed or sponsored) what is a better deal at this point: a brand new glass edge, or a year old "pro level" used evo?

Are these riders turning over hulls to jump on the next big seller or are they realizing that in a year look what i've done to this hull time for another?

I can't speak for everyone and their reasons for upgrading but I will bet it's the same as mine which was to move to a edge because of the new features, handling, all the updates. Not because my old one was tired at all. I see that thing lasting decades.

Are you a talking about the first fr-1/fs-1, fr2/fs2 or the fr2/fs2 evo series as far as those cracks because some of the first fr-1/fs-1 rickters to hit the market back in the day had a terrible glass lay-up, some of the hulls where prone to have weak spots. The fr2/fs2 and fr2/fs2 EVO hulls were very well built. It just depends on what kind of riding you do an fs2 is slightly lighter so if you are into barrel rolls on flat water and just cruising the lake this would be an advantage, if you want a super strong surf machine get a fr2 it has one extra layer of glass for strength either or they both will hold up good in the surf or lakes. obviously they are not bullet proof if you lawn dart it off a 20ft wave to the sand if will prob not do so well. If you have the $$$$ you could just get a carbon fr2 evo and never worry about it for the rest of your life. Just call TC and he will have every answer in the world about these hulls.

I would ride a rickter hull over any other hull on the market and not because TC lives 1 hr from me or because everyone has one (at least in my area) its because i use mine....ALOT and its holding up extremly well also the warranty is a plus if you have an issue with them in most cases they will replace the part.

Every Saturday and some time sundays we ride, we buy maxima oil by the 5 gallon. There is always surf where we live year round riding.

Are the weights of Rickter hulls some tightly guarded trade secret?
I've search everywhere for a weight chart for their various hulls with zero luck.

All my searches yield nothing but "My buddy held his and stood on the bathroom scale and came up with ____lbs
