Riserbars vs flat

Pros:
lower poll = lower CG, better for keeping the ski tight for rolls etc.
More adjustability
Can keep the bars from smacking your knees
Looks sweet!

Cons:
Harder to re-board the ski in deep water
Less room for controls, start/stop
Harder to do hood tricks, in the way
May not work with all chin pads

well if its just trimming the pad a bit and re stapling it than i have no issue doing that .. if im gonna see a big improvement with a 50mm rise over the flat bar set up. with a quick turn plate and fat clamp of course

I've been running this set up for years and love it -
Risers - https://www.theskiclinicstore.com/RRP-75mm-Fat-Bar_p_91.html
Quick Steer - https://www.theskiclinicstore.com/RRP-Steering-System_p_90.html

Some people prefer the straights over the risers, and some are the opposite. It took me a bit to adjust from 0* bars to the risers, but I really how adjustable the riser bars are. They really aren't that bad once you get used to them. But as jMike said, there is less room for your controls, so if you are running a trim lever, you will need to grind and mod your start/stop switch to make it fit on the bend.

I mean i guess i could always switch to a riser bar in the future if i feel the need to. So i might as well just start my mods with running the quick steer plate fat clamp and flat straight bars. For now. I just hope this helps some of my steering issues i feel on the 2012 appose to the 04 that i rode that feels alot better.

If you want more steering from a 2012 Sj you will need to change the pole ,steering cable ,steering plate and mod the exit nozzle at the very least

The pole being up even a few inches higher slows rotation down immensely. Bars dont lower your entire body. Thats the way I look at it.

I Have both on different skis. Seems you can pull harder on risers, but I can get a faster throw out of the flat.

No need to change the pole. Definitely ditch the stock cable.

I ran schmity1's cable with stock pole and turnplate. Works fine. I have since upgraded to an aftermarket turnplate and flat bars.

OP: I see you're from Wharton. A bunch of us ride surf down at Corson's Inlet if you want to ride. Brigantine is another good spot.

hmmm

higher bars mean higher body position which means higher center of gravity....

10lb pole vs 200lb body..whats going to affect your CG more????

I end up standing in the position i'm going to stand in, which usually means the pole was up a few more inches. I found I keep my pole lower with my back less fatigued at the end of the day.

Yes i wanna ride at corsons with you guys. Send me some details and ill make a trip down there. I rode at brigintine a few weeks back its just a little far for me. Message me with ur cell number and we will chay

Wtf did u smoke before you typed this, I want some! The bars always stay where you feel most comfortable therefore lowering the pole not raising your body..... Right or have I smoked something too ??? Haha

if your pole isnt on the hood your not hitting it hard enough...

if you have riser bars your body is higher than it would be with regular bars when your pole is on the hood....

if i could ride without a hood i would....the lower u can get the better....

Geez everybody is going crazy about thi s
i like my riser bars feels comfortable and going straight from flat bars to risers felt a little easier on my back don't know why maybe I have short arms compared to my legs or something lol
anyways either is good neither will turn you into a riding god or ruin your style ! I would say they are a pain if hood trick are your thing though
Hey wydopen a guy over here chopped his hood so it was flat maybe 3 inches tall ! And just had pole breathers maybe get your saw out and try it ! ( I never got to ride it )

Not necessarily true... your body position can be the same/lower, you will just have your arms bent. I believe this can give you better leverage. Hold a 20 pound weight with your arms extended and then with your arms bent closer to your body, which is easier?
Race car drivers sit close to the steering wheel, not like some bro driving a hooptie.

Personally, I dont like straight or riser bars... I use downswept bars, lowrider style. :clown:
