do you just cut out the original black liner that sits in the hood on the inside or do you save it and reinstall it?

I would cut the liner out leaving it attacked to the sides of the hood and cut it about an inch from where it attaches to the hood. You can use this 1” flange to epoxy your new liner on to.

weighed in at 11 lbs. not much of a wight savings but i am happy with it.

What do you mean?

Stock RN hood weighs 18.5lbs.

To get an aftermarket hood below 11lbs, you'd be looking at spending over 1k, easily.

for some reason when i weighed in the stocker it was at 14.

Was that with extinguisher holder and liner?

That's how I weighed mine, and it's 18.5

14lbs can't be right for a stocker. So....I think your 11lbs may be off, too.

Is there any reason why you couldn't make the transition from the cut piece to the rest of the hood smoother? I know, it's a bit of extra work, but if you could get it right, and make a plug..... :)

Also, as far as the liner is concerned, another way to do it would be to get some lycra, and hang/stretch it in there until you have the desired shape. Brush some resin on it, and let it go hard, and then hit it with some glass. Then, you have a nice smooth, natural flowing liner!
