Well I wasn't really planning on building a ski, i was planning on building an 850 PV motor for my existing black 05 SJ. Went to help a buddy buy a hull to do his build and came home with my own. Thanks Aaron for a super clean hull to start with. This is a 2000 RN hull, they are thicker than the newer style and this is one thing i was looking for with my next RN build. Bought it and got delayed building another boat for Eric, the old Pinky III. That took a lot of effort in the spring so I never really got started on this till mid summer.

This wasnt really a planned build as I had hoped to build an aftermarket hull this year, but things have a way of working them selves out. I had been buying all new parts for my new build, whenever it happened and when this super clean hull just happened to be sitting next to me, I bought it. I still love the way a SJ handles and a -2" is about the only lenght to cut a stocker and still have it handle well in the rough/chop conditions we get on the great lakes. I would like this to double as a semi flat water /surf boat but we will see how it rides later.

cutting out the old footholds. These were nice but didnt fit with my plan. we will have to see if I like the new ones. I think with the adjustability i will, but these old ones were great.

installing the new ride plate inserts and glue

Starting to Carbon reinforce in the tray area and side of hull

Now the real fun begins. I think I lost a week of my life doing this styrofoaming. There is no easy way, it takes hours and hours to do.

All set and ready for the test fit of the RRP foothold trays. If you look you will see how much of the side I had to cut out to get the trays into the ski. Lots of trial and error here also. These took me nights after work to fit properly

l like how you did the foam layered upright.Don't think l have seen anyone else do it that way.Look s to be sturdier that way too.

And your carbon looks nice!

nice build man, tell me a lil more info on molded turf verse others as in durability. does it wear out more in just the tray/foothold area where ur constantly movin ur feet around? cuz im bout to get some an was thinkin of doin black molded jus on the bottom of tray an in top of foothold(cuz i here it last longer) an doin color on walls of tray and around rails. or should i jus do molded on hole thing?

Decided to go with a carbon tray on this ski. The OEM tray was already cut out and reinforced once. I was super heavy.
Test fitting the Rickter footholds. I think I will really like the aadjustability of these when I get them dialed in.
all scuffed up and ready for turf

Decided to carbon the nose and pole area and add some extra in the spots that are always weak on SJ

Getting ready for final turfing. Used 1" underpadding on this one again. I really like it now that i'm used to it.

Test fitting the New tank and water box

Installing the blowsion HD steereing cable and Thrust Trim Cables

Added the ATP engine keepers and new stock mounts which I had to take back out to install the Cold Fusion ones later( Had to steal these for my other ski in a pinch)

Installed new HD plastic holders for the cables and lines and rivited them all in

Preping for the new hood seal

Look what I got from Fast Elements! My Mag is finally here and all installed. Decided to try a 9/15 skat swirl on this ski. I'm hopping that with the 850 it should hit hard down low. Went with te 2" set back for extra hook up in the slop and got the Skat HD drive shaft with it.
You can see how nice it looks together with the Thrust trim set up. Can anyone say back Flip :Banane13:

Installing more new OEM stuff,l even broke down and bought shims, damn those are expensive
Blowsion Tubbie Destroyers, these bad boys should make this thing handle like an aftermarket hull. Light in the front and loose in the back

Ummm, brand new Yamaha Intermediate shaft, housing, bearing, etc/ Only way to fly

Fitting the new Carbon Pancake Pete front foothold. Thanks Pete

went with a primer kit and dash installed bilge switch this time. I'm not so sure this is a good idea, but the handle bar ones are expensive and break all the time. We will see how this goes. Fast Elements Ratchet strap for the XFT hood.
