lol, it's not that bad... Just can't be nervous about taking a grinder to a hull. I hope to have time to cut off the back end in the next couple days. I will post pics as soon as it happens.

Just a couple small issues I have figured out in this process that aren't really spoken alot.

1. You will have to fiberglass in new front gas tank mounts on the rocker kit, I am not really sure yet how well the stock tank will fit back in at this point

2. The rear rideplate bolts will be lost when chopping the rear, Installing a new backing plate and repositioning the rear bolts is no biggie but you will have to mod a rideplate to fit the new mount locations and I do not have a plan for this problem at this point. Of coarse you can just drill the plate and run a bolt through but this would not be very clean and I would rather not have bolt heads hanging down off my plate. What has been the general solution here for this issue? What plate are the shorties using? Is everyone running a standard length plate or are you guys cutting them to match hull length?

Watty from RPcrew can build you the ride plate you need.

You can always stop 10-20mm prior to the rear ride plate bolts, I chopped mine past them and i am now planning a long ride plate to help control the jumps as the shorter hull just wants to flip all of the time.

Thanks! I'm guessing you just went flat along the back with no taper to more cut at the bottom of the hull? Will the long plate cure any drop off caused by the short bob? Is this the best route to go with more bob and longer plate? I anticipate cutting the rear in the next couple days and have not made a decision on the design nor length at this point. I just want to get it right the first time.

been plenty of opinions on this. Mine is shorter and it has it advantages, especially for flipping. The longer ride plate will prove if it can cover all requirements i have of the ski, My mate has a very short one too, with long ride plate and he said he does not have the same issues i had of the ski rotating over the top of you on normal jumps. He flipped it straight away, no problem. His ski is cut past the ride plate bolts too. Our other mate has his cut to just before the ride plate bolts and said this is all you need. Not shorter. However, none of us have really ridden each other ski, so it's a matter of opinion. ( Gee that helps!)

So really, it's still up the air. Depends on rider style I would say. If you go really big, Like 5 to 6 seconds in the air, the longer rear or extended ride plate will be required it will keep those high speed take offs under more control and stop the ski rotating back on you.

If you ride smaller surf and jump around 3 second airtime. shorter for sure. and you can add longer ride plate if needed.

Mine has the angled rear with normal height deck, the other two have a lowered deck with a flat rear. a lot less surface area than a stock rear, so its ok.

My rear - The top deck stops 20mm prior to the rear PUMP bolts, the taper stops around 30mm past the old ride plate bolts.

The ride plate shown here will be extended under the pump section only, almost up to the exit nozzle bolt. Kind of like a flow guard they run on rickters.

The other shortie - it has a longer ride plate running. Flat rear - lowered deck.

IMO retain the stock ride plate mounts if you can. Also, try and keep the rear piece you cut off as a mold for rebuilding the rear, my mistake was cutting my back end off and trashing it in the process.... Several hours of extra work oops..

Looks like it is coming along pretty well! More pics! :)

Lots of great info coming in, Thanks for the help guys! Player, have your friends given any insight to the flatdeck? I am curious if the back end would want to slide out on turns due to the fact that they are short and have lost the bond rail that acts as a sort of sponson.

OCD I will try to find a few pics for you.

OCD here are two pics taken last year, since then the front bumper has been trimmed and a new interior has been put in. I can get a pic of the interior tomorrow. Now back to Blasters.....

I have not ridden the green one yet, so not sure, ziptie brian is the owner, and what i saw of him on the video he carves it hard. The nose sort of compensates for the loss of the rear.

No Sir, I am building a 1100 Blaster and a 1100 SXR as we speak. Just to make it a odd number I threw in another project play Blaster! I am going to have fun in sport class this year and will sit out on Pro Runabout until the powers to be can get their heads on straight. Things are out of control on the cost side of runabout and I am not going to drive across the country to race 3 other guys. So back to sport and ski it is, hey that is where I started racing anyway! I have my own race team working their way up to legal age, although they are way off at this point. My Girl runs to the skis in the garage wanting on them as soon as I open the door, I'm probably in trouble. How have you been Harrison? Long time no see!

Hey Bill, are you done racing?
