Rockered nose lake skis

@Chase Musetti let's see the video of you flatwater flipping your cut up superjet.

By the time you reinforce the whole hull, plus rocker etc, your end up with 100lbs+ hull, same as stock or more, you don't save weight built right. Did you weigh your hull when you were done?

All the time and energy isn't worth it for flatwater, that is what the OP is about. If you ride surf, sure.

Ours weighed in the 120’s stock and in the high 90’s after build

To the OP- for 100% FW lake riding and nothing else- don’t bother rockering, get an AM hull.

But being 5mins from lakes and 1hr from the beach, it was worth it. Rockering helps with boat wakes and setup wakes too. It doesn’t add weight, and it was worth the time and effort. Don’t listen to the people who don’t know what they’re talking about.

Not to mention aftermarket Hulls are super cheap now. What’s a crappy bob cost, $2k? What do you value your time at over dozens of hours building a superjet that offers little to no benefit? Still a superjet at the end of the day.

Already stated good for surf bad for fw.

Oh and I've built and a rockered SJ and acturally know how much it weighed. Also have owned multiple a/m and can flip and ride off...

Not worth the time and effort. I know some people have way more time then money, and I'm not rich by no means, but would much rather spend 2-3k on a a/m hull, before I spent 50hours on a SJ plus money in composite materials, it's amazing how much the right a/m hull handles over a superjet, night and day difference.

To each their own- And a decent a/m hull is more like $3-4K. A modified SJ, in my case, was $1k total. Which is perfect for surf, FW, buoys, or long river runs. A cheap a/m hull basically serves one purpose. Congrats on being able to FW flip an a/m hull, that’s insane

I think this sums it up well. I don't think anyone is questioning most AM flatwater freestyle hulls (with very few acceptations) ride better than a rockered, wide tray, and shortened SJ in flatwater freestyle. I know when I was doing my SJ glassing I was a broke collage student. Would I do another one, hell no. Not because my cut up SJ doesn't ride good but because I have a little extra spending money for something nicer.

everyone just remember there is a chit ton more to flat water freestyle than flip's

Only reason I even said that, is because you talked as if fw flipping an SJ wouldn't be difficult, when in realitily it would be "almost impossible" as i already said.. When you can't and prolly have never even tried flipping a superjet. I actually have, behind a yacht, all I could do is get upside down, so I actually know how hard it is.

Funny, I said 2-3 you said 3-4, it's like you just want to argue lol. My buddy paid 1200 for his Chan, put $600 into materials paint, and has a bad a$$ ski now or less then 2k.

In my experience on here, at least 80% of the time people want to do all the crazy mods so that they can do a backflip, chasing that dream, not to have a better riding superjet. That’s the reason I think people are dumb for doing it, they find out for themselves in a hurry all the wasted effort. So instead it’s like, nice, congrats on the extra 20 degrees of rotation, you’re landing on your head better than ever!

When did I say it wouldn’t be difficult? Bc I said it was my goal with this hull? Why even bother making assumptions.. I’ve got almost every bolt on needed to complete it. I try flipping it every time I’m on the water, can get it 75% around off my own wake. More practice and maybe a few more cc and I’ll have it. Just bc you couldn’t even off a big wake doesn’t mean it can’t be done.

Haha It’s always just a few extra cc’s or a few extra thousand dollars isn’t it? That last 25% is a pesky 25%.

True, it won’t be easy. But if I ever throw the towel in, everything transfers over anyways. It’s fun anyways just trying since the hull is versatile. Like stated, FW flipping isn’t everything, but it’s a fun challenge .

Another upside to a/m hull, you don't need lots of power to flip. Also improves your 360, rolls, underflips, etc. Problem is, we all seem to chase power regardless of the hull we ride lol.

Some of those tiny backflip skis suck in the surf unless you have surf specific mods - a huge rideplate, a front hold cut into the firewall, pole spring & longer pole.

Pretty sure I'd just have an SXR and a set of bouys if I lived inland. :)
