just hold on, really no extra force is excerted during the roll, just keep you feet locked in.

AMEN TO THAT !!! I tried rollin again for about an hour yesterday and NOW my feet keep coming out now that I have the height needed and I am lookin under ski INSIDE my left elbow(tryin to roll left). You guys really are helping me alot-keep this thread alive till I got it. LOL

You should watch other guy's rolls and see how they do, then you try to do something like you saw, like following the same "model" of movement.I used to have more or less the same problem and that's what I did , and worked well with me! here's a link of my video , there are some nice rolls as example for you! Hope it helps!

do you actually throw your body into the direction of roll cuz some videos looks like guys are just leaning forward, tucking and crankin the bars hard...

i think its the 150 HP ski thats doing the rolling for them. im learning rolls on a lightly modded Fx1 right now

It's a 800 cc ported cilinder with 44's and b'pipe, not much, a good motor but not a monster, i'd like to get more power to pull some backys! The hull is a XFT non backflip hull, what difficults even more the backs becuase it's not cuted in the back, but is a very good hull too, I've always used XFT stuff and love it.
And as you may notice in the video a try to pull the back of the ski with my legs trying to go up. I kinda try to make myself and the ski "only one".

Acctually I've learned to roll on a stock motor with a crapy old lightweight hull that we used to have here in Brazil. And even today my ski doesn't even get close to 150hp, it's pretty much about technique and trainnig, with this everybody can do it(except flatwater backflips)!

I think that I am not completing most of mine because of speed. I need to go a little faster into the wave or wake. If you go slow you will lose rotational speed, centripetal force, and drop outta the sky, or foot holds. I think, I've only completed one, but hope to start trying them again soon with less weight on my ski.

Hmmmm, Check out his technique (in the video)..., I notice my problem is pole position & body position. He literally places the pole on the hood as he rides up the wake and his upper body is forward.

If your rolling counter clockwise you would ride up to the wake turn the bars a little to the right then as you are going up the wake turn them all the way to the left. I almost punch with my arms cause back in the day I wouldnt turn them all the way. Also make sure you leave the wake and give yourself some hight cause once again I would throw the roll right off the wake not giving me enought hight to complete the roll. You put your pole on the hood and I lean toward your pisser trying to go under the ski. I try and stay over my chin pad and just stay tucked. Make sure your knees are bent too.

i think the biggest problem with this trick is commitment to it. seems like every one is nervous to push themselves that hard. i plan to suck it up and just do it flatwater this summer.

I hear u on that one!!! I spend all week watching vidoe clips thinking-so dam easy-get to the lake on Saturday and spend about an hour trying and never fully commit and therefore-never succeed. I have now landed 12 pretty good rolls in the past 3 years and every dam one of them has been a 'what the hell just happened' roll. The last 2 were about a month ago I was tryin to stab left-went way big and half way up said hey-look under the ski-what do ya know-nice clean roll. Now I can't do it again to save my soul.

This is what I was really hoping to see... Someone without thousands of dollars in engine mods and lightweight hulls making a respectable go at these tricks. You've definately given me inspiration. Thanks!

That is exactly what happened to me. Matter of fact Xeon was there ridin with me that day. I was trying a HUGE stab off a boat wake and my body collapsed onto the pole, and I cranked the handlebars left and rode away almost completely dry! WTF just happened? Haven't been able to complete one that clean since.
